Xbox One S console does not store the DNS addresses I enter manually

My Xbox updated the OS yesterday when I plugged it in after not having used it for a few months.

I want to enter DNS manually (have not done that before, so don't know if it worked before OS update) but Xbox does not store the values I enter - there is no Save button after the seconday DNS address.

The procedure I do is as follows:

Settings - Network - Advanced settings (this screen shows me IP adresses, DNS, MAC, and port)

DNS settings - Manual

Primary DNS - I register the IP address and hit Enter

Secondary DNS - I register the IP address and hit Enter (there is no Save button)

Now I am back in Advanced settings screen, but DNS is empty, has no values

Hit Back key, XBox cannot resolve names, reboot Xbox - still same situation.

I have tried multiple times, flushed cache, reset Xbox to factory settings, rebooted router and Xbox, but to no avail.

Tried Google's DNS servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but same result

Is this a bug with the newly updated OS - shouldn't there be a Save button after the secondary DNS server?

Xbox one s will not save the Wireless alternate mac address that has to manually be changed for alot of us,after i manually enter the mac that i need to use to access the internet wirelessly the console restarts but the wireless mac address i entered
manually has not saved to the console.

DNS issues.

Are you using a dynamic address? If so manually enter you IP address and DNS numbers. Make sure one of your DNS numbers is your router. Example:

IP: 192.168.1.5

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Router: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 2.2.2.2

Followup:

The above did not work when connecting Xbox to router with cable.

When I disconnected cable and connected wi-fi, and went through the above procedure, the DNS addresses were saved in the Xbox when I hit Enter after the secondary address.

Set up the DNS Settings on your Xbox One. Before you can do this, you will need to come up with a unique IP address for your Xbox One console (i.e. "************"). This IP address cannot be shared by any other devices on your wireless network. Then use the following steps to set up your DNS settings on your Xbox One console:

Press the Xbox button on your controller.

Select Profile & system.

Select Settings.

Select Network.

Select Advanced Settings

Select IP Settings.

Select Manual.

Enter the unique IP address you came up with for your console and press Enter.

Enter the subnet mask you got from your computer and press Enter.

Enter the default gateway you got from your computer and press Enter.

Select DNS Settings.

Select Manual.

Enter your primary DNS server and press Enter.

Enter your secondary DNS server (if there is one), and press Enter.

I reccomend google dns 8.8.8.8

Yes, I've changed the DNS settings from automatic to manual on the Xbox One and entered the addresses. I also ran namebench to find faster DNS servers and tried those on the Xbox One. It didn't fix the problem.

I tested my Xbox with the manual DNS settings and it seems to have worked. I had the Xbox IP address set to manual and configured, but left the DNS setting on automatic so it was not pulling a DNS for the Xbox. After I manually entered in the DNS the Xbox
now seems to be staying connected.

Also. Through the xbox one in the advanced settings of the network under DNS, I have manually entered 8.8.8.8 for the primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the secondary DNS. Not sure what this does but read on the forum to do this.
