  1. Xbox one s blu ray app will not display video.

I'm trying to watch Straight Outta Compton on my xbox one s. I can hear the audio and see the menu but there is no video. Complete blank screen through the previews and when I attempt to play the movie. No solution provided by the support site will work.
This is a standard 1080p blu ray disc. I tried the DVD copy and had the same issue.

    :)

  2. Audio out of sync with Blu-ray app on One S

Just got a new One S with the intention of using it for all of my media including Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray. Unfortunately the Blu-ray app does not properly synchronize the audio with the video. It's a good quarter second off, which makes my discs unwatchable.
This is limited to just the Blu-ray app, audio is fine everywhere else on the system. Uninstalling, reinstalling and restarting doesn't help. This happens with every possible combination of audio and video settings (including 24hz on and off). Is this a known
issue? Is anything being done to fix the app? Is this specific to the S because of the UHD Blu-ray support? Thanks.

    Play videos on burned discs

I've put a disk in and none of the apps even see the optical blu ray drive let alone any media files on it. The blu ray player app does play media on a blu ray disk that is in the proper blu ray format, but VLC, or even the file explorer app do not even display the optical drive. I can play media on an external drive using VLC.

    Hi martyeastwood1,

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums!

We understand it is frustrating since the Xbox One S will not read the Blu-ray discs. Now when you try to watch any Blu-ray discs, does the system display an error or message?

Does the console play Game discs or CDs? Also, please make sure you have the Blu-ray player installed on the console. This is not an app that is pre-installed.

Please check out the Disc and Blu-ray settings for more information.

I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes :)

H.D.M.I. in and Xbox One S

The Xbox One S is fully capable of playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies, especially 4K UHD Blu-Rays. You just have to download the Blu-Ray app: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/apps/bluray-info

Otherwise, any HDMI-capable device will work through the HDMI-in port on the Xbox One.

4k problems on xbox one s

    Hey WILDman260,

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

    Ghostshrimp,

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
    the Blu-Ray app.

Let us know how it goes!

Xbox one s does not allow 60Hz in advanced video settings but my TV supports it

Yes by DVD app I mean the Blu-Ray app on the Xbox One S. I am watching several 4K Ultra HD HDR movies like Star Trek Beyond, Point Break, San Andreas, X-Men etc. They are all 4K Ultra HD HDR movies, but the Xbox Blu-Ray app is playing them at only 23.98
FPS. I expect them to be played at 60 FPS. A non 4K regular Blu-Ray movie plays back on the DVD Blu-Ray app at 29.98 FPS. I consider this a deficiency in Xbox One S Blu-Ray player. It has nothing to do with my TV. My TV is capable of handling 60 FPS but the
Xbox DVD Blu-Ray app is not playing it back fast enough.

    I have two questions:

Could you tell me why I cannot check the 60Hz setting in advanced video settings even though my TV is capable of handling it?

Could you tell me why the Xbox One S Blu-Ray app is playing back 4k movies at 23.98 FPS instead of 29.98 or 60 FPS?

    Thanks!

The FPS you're seeing is not the same as your TV's refresh rate. Frames per second is what the CPU and GPU within the console uses to produce the smooth collection of images. The refresh rate is how fast your display is able to redraw the screen. Some TV's
have a setting that shows what the current refresh rate - is that something that yours has that you can check?

Also, just to clarify (and I realize this may be semantics territory but I want to be sure we're all on the same page) - when you say DVD app, you mean the Blu-Ray app on the Xbox One S, correct? And what movie are you attempting to watch?

As far as filing a bug or passing the information on to the appropriate teams, that's something we can do if we determine that there is a problem but at this point, we don't believe this to be a bug or console deficiency.

    Keep us posted. :)
