Xbox one S Blu Ray app problems

Does anyone else have this problem? I am in the preview program and since a few updates ago (it seems to update every other day now) it seems that whenever I try to play a normal blu ray the Xbox one S does not upscale this to 4K anymore? The tv just recognises
it as 1080p. As I have turned off all upscaling options on the tv as the xbox is supposed to take over this is not ideal.

Also whenever I have used media (media player or a blu ray) the first game I try to play from disc causes the xbox to reset itself and restart. I have to do a hard reset, take the disc out and then it usually picks it up, but sometimes I have to do it twice
or even three times before the game loads.

I have given feedback through the preview program on the above but have not seen it appear on any of the known issue lists, so if I have a faulty xbox I would like to know sooner rather than later so I can send it back to MS

movies not working

Snoopy, look around on just this page alone. The XBOX One S is having a lot of problems playing Blu Ray (especially 4k titles). The Blu Ray app appears to be pretty much garbage (rated 2/5 stars).

DVD and Blu ray disc stopped issue

Hi guys.

My Xbox One plays games, both disc ans downloaded one, perfectly

and all the apps work perfectly as well, but whenever

I put a DVD or a Blu Ray disc, I get a "Disc Stopped" message.

Is the problem with my console or the Blu ray app ?

And what is the solution with this problem ?

The Xbox One S is fully capable of playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies, especially 4K UHD Blu-Rays. You just have to download the Blu-Ray app: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/apps/bluray-info

Otherwise, any HDMI-capable device will work through the HDMI-in port on the Xbox One.

I have the exact same problem. Xbox one S with an Onkyo Atmos Surround System (S5800). The reciever shows atmos when using the demos from the app and netflix, but not any of my atmos blu rays. I'm assuming this is a software issue with the blu ray app, so
I hope they patch it soon.

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
the Blu-Ray app.

well I returned my Xbox one x for a new one and guess what same problem. The issue is called macroblocking.

The issue isn’t the hardware it’s tbe Blu-ray application.

I called Microsoft and they didn’t know what I was talking about. They are blaming my tv even though I didn’t have the problem the entire time I used my Xbox one S watching 4k Blu-ray movies.
