    Xbox One S Blu-ray 4k Blu-ray

The Blu-ray player app, even when running on an Xbox One S, does not recognize UHD Blu-ray discs.

I looked up the error (91d70000) and it indicates that the format of the disc is unrecognized.

The app lists UHD Blu-ray in the description, so I am assuming this is a bug, and not just unimplemented support.

    :)

    Hey WILDman260,

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

    Ghostshrimp,

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
    the Blu-Ray app.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hi KnightMawk!

Error (91d70000) is in regards to, "4K is supported by your TV, but not at 60Hz. You won't be able to upscale to 4K, but, depending on your TV, you may still be able to play some 4K and HDR content. To see what your TV supports, choose 4K TV details."

The Links provided below will fully troubleshoot 4k and HDR on Xbox One S as well as suggested formatting solutions.

I've checked '4k TV Details' everything is marked as supported, including 4k at 60 HZ and HDR

I have also consulted both of those articles in the past when I was first setting up the Xbox One S (I hate to double post but I can't find a way to edit an existing post, if there is one please let me know)

I've also watched 4k HDR content through Netflix already on this box, the error only occurs with he Blu-ray app. Normal blu-rays also work fine. I checked earlier and noted a few of the comments on the app in the store indicating that other people were having
the same problem. It may not be a bug with the blu-ray app, it may be as you say that my TV doesn't support 4k at 60hz, in which case there is a bug in the solution being used to detect that, like I said everything shows up green check-marks.

When I but the disc in and let it auto-play instead of trying to launch the app, I get error 0820002. I've followed all the steps to trouble shoot that error as well with no success.

crap, 80820002 is the error I get when I try to autoplay the disc (this forum could benefit from a more obvious edit feature)

    Hey there KnightMawk,

Which UHD Movies are you trying to play? Are you able to use normal Blu-ray discs without any issue or another UHD Disc?

I'm trying to play Eddie The Eagle. I received a forum message stating that some UHD Blurays produced by Fox before 2016 may not have worked on the Xbox One S and that the error had been corrected.

The error still persists, though since the update the error happens much quicker (within a few seconds of inserting the disc or starting the app), so at least something has been fixed.

I'm going to have the disc replaced and see if that fixes the error, but I know other people have had issues with this same movie.

  10. Sounds like a plan, I'm sure replacing the disc with the studio will resolve the issue for you. Keep us posted!

Xbox ONE vs Stand alone Blu Ray!

xbox one "will" support 4k blu-rays in the future. They just haven't announced it when it will. So if you buy 4k blu ray movies they will not play yet on the xbox one. as with standard blu rays I find it only noticeable on larger blu ray tvs. I have
a 4k 70in tv, the only way I can currently see blu ray formatted shows is on the built in apps in the tv. Mainly Netflix.

    4K content

Xbox One and Xbox One S are 1080P Gaming

Xbox One S will play 4K Blu Ray's

Xbox One X will play Game in 4K if they are Enhanced with 4K Support + 4k Blu Ray support

They Xbox One X will also Upscale on a 1080p screen so you will see some benefit of the Xbox One X

Can the xBox play DVD-RAM discs?

it can, it may have region locks for your area but yes the xbox one can play cd, dvd, blu-ray, and if you have the x/s 4k blu ray

    up scale standard blu ray?

"Ultra HD" Blu-Rays will play in 4K. Standard Blu-Rays will play in 1080p.

The Xbox One S will only output to the highest resolution offered by the Blu-Ray disc it plays.

I suppose this design choice was in mind because 4K/UHD-TVs already process and upscale a lower resolution image to "cleanly" use all of the 3840x2160 pixels, so it's not putting unnecessary load on the Xbox One S CPU.
