Xbox One S began freezing and increasingly unresponsive.

My Xbox One S started experiencing issues a couple of days ago. At first, my games would constantly freeze for extended periods of time, but I could always quit the game or wait it out. Then, it grew increasingly unresponsive. I couldn't open the Xbox
menu or quit the game or anything else. It would freeze and nothing I did would fix it, aside from shutting it down. Even when I did this there would still be issues. Once it was powered off, I'd try to turn it back on. I'd press the button, it would make
the start up sound and light up, but nothing would show on the screen (no it was not the HDMI). I would have to shut it down and turn it back on multiple times whenever it would do this. I ended up only watch tv on it because it seemed that pushing too many
buttons made it freeze faster. After trying to play a game multiple times with freezes for each, I decided to factory reset as that seems to be a common way to trouble shoot. I turned it on after that and it only seemed to make it worse. I could no longer
sign in or use any applications. I had tried redownloading the game that I wanted to play to see if that would help, and now it keeps stopping the download. I tried hard resetting the xbox-again-and now it won't even turn on. I press the power button, it lights
up and makes the sound, then it turns right back off. I have unplugged it for an extended period of time and it is no better. It is not hot or overheating, it is in an open area with nothing covering it. The console is now just sitting there and is really
getting on my nerves because I shouldn't have to deal with this as something I paid for only a few months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up taking the console to a place with professionals so I could figure out exactly what was wrong. After a few minutes of them checking it over, they said it was either an issue with the motherboard, which can't be fixed, or the hard drive, which
replacing it would cost more than the device is worth. All in all, the Xbox One S lasted about seven months, even though it was really only used for two. Very disappointed. Let's hope the Series X is more reliable than this pos.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on what to do given the present situation. I can totally understand how this could be pretty discouraging of a thing to happen. I recommend sending it in to get

repaired, If you have had it only for that long, they should be able to get it repaired by Xbox.

When you get the chance, give that a shot and let us know if that helped.

This sounds like your internet connection is lagging your xbox. If youre able try taking the internet cable ( it should be white and look like a phone wire) and plug in your xbox. This should cut down any latency or game lag you might be experiancing,
also try checking your internet under your xbox and check to make sure it says nat type is open. If the issue continues then you might need to send the console for a repair, but since the xbox s is old, i reccomend trying to get a one x its faster, also xbox
is restructuring the servers for the next gen console so that is also playing a role.

This same issue has been affecting my console for the past week or so too.

Games freezing and crashing or not loading at all.

Tried reboot, power cycle, deleting games and data.

Theres a new xbox update today so hopefully that helps.

It will get increasingly more difficult to find stock now that Microsoft has stopped making the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S Digital.

I would wait until they potentially announce the Xbox Series S which will be the cheaper version of the Series X later this year.
