Xbox One S bait and switch

The netflix app definately has zero 4K content, which my netflix UHD tv(2014) built in app does, flight of the butterflies lists as HD in the netflix app but 4K on my Netflix tv tv app. Nice job Xbox. This is a 1080p xbox that can play uhd blu-ray discs
and stream only HD content from pat rentals and streaming seevices that do offer UHD movies/original content. I imagine the Scorpio console will only play xbox one games at 1080p and will need an update to play Scorpio games in UHD months down the road. If
you bought a car and they said,'' yeah we sold it and the specs say it can be put into drive and itll go forward but right now it only works in reverse and neutral- youd say,'' the car was marketed that it could go forward, its the main reason i bought it
over my 2 year old car that only drives reverse and neutral, I'd bet you would be justified in being a bit bitter/upset. Is it fair for me to say to xbox that I'll take the xbox one S now but I'm going to pay you at some point down the road without any interest/bonus?
The entire buzz was that tgis could play 4K content. Right now it can play only 1/3 of 4K options ( UHD discs but no UHD streams from netflix, Vudu, Mgo), and no pay per view rentals via streaming nor downloading of new 4K rental content. Direct Tv offers
more new UHD movies than this device. Very poor execution yet again in a console launch. What happenned to the Xbox brand? If Apple put out a console, it'd would work properly and as marketed. Thumbs down to what i paid for and expected to get.

Whoever told you at the time of purchase lied to you. Microsoft publicly announced that the Kinect would not be required to utilize the console a few months before the release of the product, and was very public regarding this if you followed the latest
news. However, they also stated that the way they designed and marketed the console was that "Kinect" is part of the console. There are a lot of reasons for it, but the biggest one would be, making sure that everyone has the capability to utilize Kinect
commands so that developers are a lot more free to include those options in the games they make without alienating the people without "Kinect".

The short version, The console plus the Kinect "is" the Xbox One.

Yep I have to agree with Midnight on this one they said months before release that you didnt even have to hookup the kinect. What they said was the experience was built around Kinect not that it was required. You should be happy they are lowing the price
because lower price means more sales, more sales mean more games. You paid 100 extra but got to play for almost a year more so hey choose your battles.

 

Netflix controls their app, not MS. Try contacting their support if you have a problem with the content they're offering.

 

same as above, the content from streaming services is out of microsoft control, and the comment about apple stuff, HILARIOUS.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't appreciate the fact that I can watch most anything on my 360, including cable TV (though things like cable may be before your time Goth ). That was just an added bonus though and had nothing to do with the reason I bought
it, or the rest of the current gen consoles.

 

your tv doesn't have hdmi 2.0a/ you can't stream games thru the xbox. no 2014 tvs had it. the problem is you have a outdated tv. so what you say now.lol your tv can do it because its not going thru the hdmi. you must have hdcp 2.2 to play uhd you only
need 1.4 hdmi and hdcp 2.2

 

Yeah, Apple stock, which is a reflection on value, is so hilarious it went from $1 in 2000 to $600 in 2013- then split to $300, and went to $400. Its the most valuable company on earth unless it switches between BP or Apple. They pit out solid products
consistently. They dont need antivirus, and do everything better then MS. MS is a fossil of the 80s now. If dbox doesnt control the content- xbox surely can control renting uhd movies on demand. Wheres the uhd content, again? Tyey couldve built partnerships
to have in place but all their recent consoles ate launched as works im progress. My 2014 4K tv csme with support for 4K from netflix. How does a serious fonsole maker not have the relationships needed in plsce before launch? This is old tech!!!

 

I have hdmi 2.0 and hdcp 2.2 on my tv

65UB9500 look up specs- hdmi2.0 and hdcp 2.2 on 1 hdmi input buddy. I stresm netflix. I did my research before buying. My bro has a 2013 uhd tv but only hdmi 1.4 and no hdcp 2.2 copy protection. I just watched The Martian on UHD Blu-ray- had HEVC codec
which is whst uhd uses. I know more than youll ever know about uhd.

 

There just is not a lot of 4k content out there right now (not sure why you think there is). And believe me, all these streaming services aren't delivering TRUE UNCOMPRESSED AUDIO/VIDEO 4K either. Your only good source for true 4k is going to be disc for
quite sometime. I still can't get uncompressed 1080p audio/video and I live in a big market with reliable cable/internet. PS- Apple TV/itunes is not streaming true 4k media either.

 

Why is it people love to tell long stories about toys they don't like? Return the bloody thing and find another toy to your liking.

 

Let's see how much those Apple stocks plummet now that they've just been hit with a 19 billion tax bill for opening their business in Ireland so they don't have to pay US taxes. They're keeping their money out of America. Great company they are.

 

^ Almost as "great" as microsoft which pays less than 5% in taxes worldwide. How much does the average working Joe and Jane pay? 23.8% is it? And that isn't counting Obama care taxation/penalities.

On another note: Past time for Ireland to pull a Brexit of their own, and stop backing EU's unelected dictators.
