Xbox One S backwards compatibility disc issues

Just got my new Xbox One S and I cannot install any backwards compatible 360 games from disc.

I had no problems doing so on my Xbox One, I tried the disc in my One and it pops up with the install option right away. On the One S it tells me the game is not compatible.

I can however install any non-disc based games I've purchased on the 360.

I'm seeing no other reports of problems with this so is my console faulty?

Note - I've tried it with Borderlands, Alan Wake and Fallout 3, all of which are able to install fine on the One.

According to this link the first Halo in the series is only backwards compatible with disc and not digital

Did you mean that you have an Xbox One S all-digital edition? If so, then the answer is unfortunately no, and you can only play digital versions of the backwards compatible games. If you have an Xbox One S with a disc drive then you can simply pop the disc
into the console.

Gold is required to play online on the Xbox. So even if it's a free-to-play game, you still need Gold to play online.

As far as the games you have on Disc, you would not get the remastered ones for free, but if they are backwards compatible you can use the discs to play on the Series X (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility?xr=shellnav)
The Series S will not have a disc drive so backwards compatible discs will not work and the games would have to be purchased digitally.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 Fall of Cybertron disc is not backwards compatible on the Xbox One.

Original Xbox games were backwards compatible on Xbox 360's for quite awhile when the Xbox 360 was in it's prime by simply putting in the disc but I don't think backwards compatibility on the Xbox 360 works as well as it used to since backwards compatibility
has moved on to the Xbox One. The Xbox One can play Xbox original games by simply putting in the disc or you can buy digital licenses.

You can try inserting a disc into your Xbox 360 and see if it works but it may not be supported anymore.

xbox one x is the best right now but there is a new xbox next year so depends on what your budget is, the one s is a good cheap option, there is an all digital version of it but the normal one s has a disc drive
