Xbox One S and UHD Blu Ray Movies with ATMOS

I can't no find anywhere that tells me if the Xbox One S sends unmodified audio from a movie out so I can use the ATMOS sound track and my receiver will show it is receiving ATMOS audio. The xbox one could not do this which is why I am asking.

  2. Blu ray app won't play dolby atmos on UHD blu ray discs

I have my xbox one s set to bitstream out dolby digital. I have enabled the "Let my receiver decode audio" in the blu ray settings. Here's my problem with the app. When I open the blu ray app and try to play a UHD disc with dolby atmos, I get an error that
says "Your audio receiver can't decode this" (Error code 0x91d7000e). However, when I put in a 1080p blu ray disc with dolby atmos, it plays dolby atmos. My xbox one is connected to the HDMI in port of a soundbar that supports dolby atmos. Is this a known
issue with the blu ray app currently? Is there a way to fix this? I'd greatly appreciate some help with this.

You can add me to the list as well.

Atmos had been working fine, then the other I day I was halfway through a UHD movie and noticed my receiver said TrueHD instead of Amos. Afterwards, I tried turning the pass through setting off and on with no luck. Then I tried the Vudu and the Dolby app
and both output in Atmos. Moved over to my PS4 and loaded up MI:5 blu-ray and the receiver played the Atmos perfectly. Took the same disc over to the Xbox and again I got TrueHD. I went so far as to delete and reinstall the blu-ray app with no luck. It's not
the receiver or the cable or the disc, so it has to be the blu-ray app, right? I really hope they fix this issue pronto. I got the Xbox One S specifically for UHD/Atmos.

Xbox One S and UHD Blu Ray Movies with ATMOS

    Hey P1ague1313!

At this time, Dolby ATMOS is not supported on the Xbox One console. I definitely do suggest visiting our
Xbox Feedback page if you would like to suggest this as an idea, or alternatively vote for an idea regarding this if it has already been submitted.

    Thanks for posting!

Xbox cdrom or whatever people call it

    Its a dvd
    Nope, not quite right.

    Original Xbox - DVD

Xbox 360 - DVD (or more specifically, DVD-9).

    Xbox One - Blu-ray

Xbox One S and X - UHD Blu-ray drive, but games still on standard Blu-ray.

Scarlet will have a UHD BD drive so that can still play all formats of movie discs. Likely that games will be on 100GB discs.

Xbox One X should get an "upgrade" to an Ultra HD Blu-ray Player for 4K to be worth it.

    Hi,

The One X can already play 4K UHD Blu-Ray movie discs, the same as the One S. There's nothing to upgrade.

The Xbox One S is fully capable of playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies, especially 4K UHD Blu-Rays. You just have to download the Blu-Ray app: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/apps/bluray-info

Otherwise, any HDMI-capable device will work through the HDMI-in port on the Xbox One.

BUG: With Dolby Atmos activated, all apps used Fallback to PCM 2.0

I can confirm this bug with the Dolby Atmos app.

My setup: Denon X4200W receiver with Xbox One S.

Atmos works fine in the Dolby Atmos app, Blu-Ray and Netflix (the movie Okja is the only Atmos movie on Netflix). All other Netflix videos and Xbox apps default back to 2.0 down mix as posted above.
