    Xbox One S and Official Stereo Headset Adapter not recognized


    I recently purchased the official Xbox Stereo Headset Adapter for my Xbox One S. I was looking forward to managing the volume and mute buttons on the controller instead of through the awkward settings panel. Unfortunately, my Xbox doesn't seem to recognize
    the adapter. The controller firmware is v3.1.12210 which is the most up-to-date release. My 3.5 mm cabled headset works fine when plugged directly into the controller so it isn't the issue. Is this device not compatible with the newer Xbox model? Is there
    a patch to make this work?

    Unfortunately the Venom Headset XT is not compatible with the xbox one without an official xbox stereo headset adapter.

    Hi Zathrus,

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset     with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
    adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

    After a tech support chat session with Microsoft I returned the device and requested a replacement. The replacement is now working fine. It appears that my first device was dead on arrival. That is disappointing for a brand new device that arrived in sealed
    box. So bottom line, if yours isn't working, try another controller, and if that doesn't fix the issue request a replacement.

    Recommendation needed for Xbox One X headphones

    I would recommend the official Xbox brand stereo headset as it claims to be compatible with all xbox one wireless controllers:

    It probably doesn't need the stereo headset adapter - but if you're going to buy this headset, better just buy the stereo headset adapter to get your other headsets, that you already own, to work properly
