    Xbox One S and Dolby Atmos


    I am having an issue with playing playing Blu-Ray disks on my Xbox one S. The Dolby Atmos will not pass through. I have the settings enabled on the xbox and my AVR supports Atmos. The Dolby access app and VUDU both play Atmos just fine. I have the UHD
    dvd that has 4K and Atmos, but it will not work. Any advice?

    Dolby Atmos all the time why?

    Xbox One S plays all materials in Dolby Atmos. Most material does not support this. Dolby Atmos is unusable. We all have to go back to Dolby Digital. Sad Times for Xbox. This has been broke and reported since April.

    Xbox One S and Dolby Atmos

    I am having the same issue, and DTS;X is not being detected either from disc either. Atmos from the Dolby Access app and the Netflix app work properly.

    Did you find a solution?

    Xbox One S and Dolby Atmos

    I'm also having this same problem. The Dolby ATMOS app works great, VUDU UHD and Netflix 4k work fine with ATMOS, but when I have the Blu-ray app setting set to allow my receiver to decode (DENON S720W which supports ATMOS), the disc won't play - I don't
    even get a downgrade, and have to change the settings back to disabled, and the disc will play with some other surround decoding. Occasionally, I can just keep retrying, and I will get Dolby THD. but NEVER the ATMOS that is on the UHD 4k disc.

    I've tested this with John Wick 2, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and others as well.

    Atmos had been working fine, then the other I day I was halfway through a UHD movie and noticed my receiver said TrueHD instead of Amos. Afterwards, I tried turning the pass through setting off and on with no luck. Then I tried the Vudu and the Dolby app
    and both output in Atmos. Moved over to my PS4 and loaded up MI:5 blu-ray and the receiver played the Atmos perfectly. Took the same disc over to the Xbox and again I got TrueHD. I went so far as to delete and reinstall the blu-ray app with no luck. It's not
    the receiver or the cable or the disc, so it has to be the blu-ray app, right? I really hope they fix this issue pronto. I got the Xbox One S specifically for UHD/Atmos.

    BUG: With Dolby Atmos activated, all apps used Fallback to PCM 2.0

    I can confirm this bug with the Dolby Atmos app.

    My setup: Denon X4200W receiver with Xbox One S.

    Atmos works fine in the Dolby Atmos app, Blu-Ray and Netflix (the movie Okja is the only Atmos movie on Netflix). All other Netflix videos and Xbox apps default back to 2.0 down mix as posted above.

    Dolby Atmos App - When will it be updated

    This is Xbox One specific, and relates to how Dolby Atmos capabilities via Home Cinema amps. They have been compromised by the fact that the Dolby Atmos app version has not kept up with the firmware of numerous current amps from multiple brands.

    Since August, it changed from outputting Atmos signals as "Atmos" to to generic "multi Ch in".

    Like many others, I mailed Denon, and it is an issue relating to the MAT container embedded in the Dolby Atmos app. We collectively need a definitive answer on when Microsoft and/or Dolby intends to upgrade to 1.6?

    The full quite of the Denon explanation is below:

    "Dolby Atmos version is changed from “Dolby Harmony 1.3” to “Dolby Home Audio 1.6” via U21 Update. The Dolby Home Audio 1.6 includes the “Dolby MAT signaling” feature that detecting the channel based PCM signal contained into the Dolby MAT Container.
    And, major player which contains the PCM signal into Dolby MAT container is only XBOX One S and XBOX One X, currently. With new Dolby Atmos version 1.6, specific processing of source (XBOX) is needed. This is now the problem: Xbox did not implement this processing

    *maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

    Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

    No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

    I don't know if is intentional.

    Dolby Atmos will get static during movies on Netflix, some Dolby Atmos movies on Netflix will not play most of the time. Atmos stays on, but when errors occur resetting the Dolby Access app doesn't help at all. I have also noticed the static sound with
    all bitstream audio, while playing a movies, music or games, and sometimes even in the Xbox One S menus.
