Xbox One S acting very strangely....I think it's a lemon

Ok, I got a One S 2TB last Thursday and I reinstalled my games and apps and put my 2 external HDD's on the rear USB ports. I noticed if I turned the system on and off with the controller the controller wouldn't sync for several minutes or even not at all
and my external HDD"s wouldn't initialize. It seemed if I hit the power button to turn it on and off and just the instant on tap off, not the hold the button in for the hard reboot, it was fine, but it has now started to exhibit this behavior no matter how
I turn it on or off. I had these same HDD"s on my day one xbox one and it never acted like this on boot up. Anyone else experience anything like this? I saw some search results for the controller issue but that seemed like something people were experiencing
for a long time with their xbox's and I never did with my old xbox one. I have an elite controller and am using that but it was tip top on the original xbox one so I am kinda thinking this is a lemon unit of a one S. I couldn't find anything more specific
so I thought I would post and ask around here.

Try hooking up the controller to the console wired for 15 minutes without a battery. Just letting it sit there, power the controller off, then try it again. If that doesn't fix your problem, contact Repairs for Xbox. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/browse/xbox-one/warranties-and-repair

Thanks, I found out the issue, the top left button was stuck as a result that button was always triggered, pulled it out and the controller is working fine now, thanks for the assistance

 

My Xbox One S was also giving me a ton of problems, i dont know how many times i factory reset it and the tech support was no help either. They wanted me to send it in for repairs which was going to take 3 to 4 weeks and i agreed. I tried one last thing,
i did the offline update and now it works so much better pretty much all the problems i had went away. So maybe try the offline update and hopefully it fixes your problem.

 

why in in the name of the gods above would you have it fixed, you should have returned it now you will not have the full 1 year warranty when you get it back.

 

Anyone else? Offline update I wouldnt think would be necessary it certainly acted like it got it's one update out of the box pretty quickly and then it's fine aside from these boot up issues, which are random but are becoming more prevelant. I just don't
want to deal with xbox support. Been there done that far too many times with 360 to want to mess with it again. My day one xbox one has been a champ, but this is concerning to me about the S. I don't see threads talking about S's dying left and right which
is great, but I was hoping to find anything concrete I might try. I will look at the offline update and thanks for posting! I didn't mean to come off rude.
