    Xbox one S @4k problem

Hi guys ive recently bought a Samsung u28e590d, the monitor with 4k@ 60hz on the display port 1.2 and the 2nd hdmi port which is hdmi 2.0.

It was working but kept flashing off then on as if it had just connected to the channel when i used the xbox one s shipped cable.

then when i tried a high rated 7.5m cable it would change to 4k but the screen would go black then revert to 1080p after the 20second confirmation limit etc..

ive bought a kable hdmi 2.1 plus rated cable (yes it makes a difference sheilding wire quality etc) it worked! when i tried it in the room with the cable coiled up but connected fully worked playing games @ 4k (i know the monitor does not have HDR10) but
it surely worked even on gears of war 4. no flashing, the problem is now the cable is where it should be and not coiled up its not even giving me a picture. has anyone seen similar or have a solution without buying a new monitor?

    :)

Es necesaria una televisión 4k para jugar en el xbox one S?

Estoy a punto de adquirir una consola Xbox One S, pero no tengo una televisión 4k. Hay algún problema si mi televisión no es 4k?

    Hey there XY Phobias,

It sounds like there is something with this monitor that needs to be changed to get this working, or at least a setting on the monitor that needs to be changed. You may need to ensure the console is plugged into the proper HDMI port on the monitor as only
1 HDMI input will support the HDMI 2.0 connection for 4K. Have you tried switching the HDMI port on the monitor and ensured the proper settings are selected on the monitor to support the feature?

You may want to reach out to Samsung support as well for this issue, since we know the console is outputting video in this case (if switching the port doesn't work).

hi thx for the reply, its been working 95% of the time it flashes sometimes off then on as if its just connected for first time since turned on but that would probly be because the monitor doesnt suppoer hdr10 so its running in 8bit lol

  5. When does it flash? It might be trying to change to 4K mode when it's loading up games or apps that support 4K HDR content like Netflix or Forza Horizon 3 which is normal while the two devices are communicating with each other.

Gotcha, run through this guide here to double check to see if your Monitor is capable of all of the necessary requirements to use 4K fully. Running this test might give us some clues as to where the issue may be.

Let us know where it passed with a green check mark and where if failed, if it does at all.

Do I need a 4K cable TV to use the Xbox One s system

The Xbox One requires at least a 720p HDTV or monitor for display.

Basically, if the TV has an HDMI port, your Xbox One S
should work just fine on it.

For me, I'm running my Xbox One S on a standard 1080p TV without a problem.

All the talk about 4K is just an extra feature that the Xbox One S supports; if you have a 4K HDTV, the Xbox One S will be able to upscale the content to 4K resolution. It's not necessarily required to have
4K, but it sure would be nice.

    Hey there lechine1,

We're going to need a few more details on this. Are you using an Xbox One console or an Xbox One S console outputting in 4K? If it's an Xbox One S Console, please use this guide to help with troubleshooting.
