Xbox One S 4K Output/Input

Anyone struggling to get UHD/4K working correctly, have tried all HDMI inputs on 4K tv yet keep having issues. Equally passthrough via Sky Q doesn't seem to support UHD/4K either.

Any tips/tricks - TV in use is a Sony Bravia.

Can Xbox One S pass 4k video through the HDMI input?

I'm looking to connect a DirecTV 4k Genie to the INPUT of an Xbox One S and want to know if it can pass HDCP 2.2 through to the HDMI output? Xbox Live support chat was unable to answer my question and so far I haven't seen any reviewers putting a 4k source
into the Xbox One S HDMI INPUT port.

 

Xbox One S 4K output causing black flashing with Vizio PQ65-F1

When I enable the 4K video output on Xbox One S it causes intermittent black screen flashing on my new Vizio PQ65-F1

Set-up: Tivo Roamio>Xbox One S>Yamaha RX-A660BL>Vizio PQ65-F1 on HDMI 1 input on TV. All HDMI cables are high speed 18GBps.

When I enable the 4K display video output setting on the Xbox One S the problem happens when watching TV or playing games.

When I change it to 1080p the problem is resolved. Allow 4K setting is turned on and YCC 4:2:2: is turned off in advanced settings.

Using a Roku through the receiver with 4K to the TV works fine no issues, the problem is only with Xbox One. on 4K video output.

Is there any way I can play Xbox One S with 4K video output for TV watching and gaming on the Vizio PQ65-F1 without these HDMI handshaking issues?

Content not till 13th but setting now live, can switch to these settings if direct to TV but not via xbox.

Very much struggling, keep getting black screen.

 

Does your T.V. support HDR10? The X Box One S doesn't support Dolby Vision.

Its standard 4k that I'm struggling with, keeps freezing on black screen, managed to watch movie in 4k then went back to menu and got black screen and had to restart.

 

I've been searching to find out if 4k is supported via passthrough and there seems to be no information on it. There are support articles on 4k but they mention everything other than passthrough which makes me concerned that it's not capable of doing this.

Hoping this isn't true as this was the main reason for upgrading to sky and and xbox one s.

Has anyone seen anything that confirms this should be working or is on its way in an update?

 

Having just initialized my mint-fresh, MINISCULE (I mean, this thing is like a newborn lol) Xbox One S, I then connected it through my Sony A/V receiver which allows 4K passthrough. Although I've set my video display to auto-detect, the only available display
options were 720p and 1080p. Since my TV is FHD, I'm fine with that.

However, after my new system finished updating and installing a bunch of apps, I received a pop-up message which flashed (paraphrasing): "your TV supports 4K, would you like to change now?" Lol whut? A FREE upgrade to 4K, on my FHD TV? Sure, I'll buy that.
But hey, whaddya know, it WORKED!

Of course, revisiting the display options assured me that my TV is still only resolving 1080p, however I've now got access to the Advanced Settings menu which wasn't available before. And yup, it gives the full table of (non-available) 4K parameters, further
advising that since my receiver is essentially acting as the intermediary, I'm *not* in fact viewing a native 4K display. No *** sherlock, but what I *am* viewing is 4K passthrough... because the image is razor-sharp and everything just pops off the screen!
Hope I'm not damaging my monitor. ^^

 

Was advised that it work via pass through by an advisor pre purchase so hoping it does soon. Still struggling with the occasional black screen and setting issues despite my TV being 4k and supporting everything bar HDR.

 

I am kind of in the same boat right now. I keep getting the 4K signal cutting out (along with audio)on me every couple minutes only lasts one or two secs then comes back. Sometimes when I restart the Xbox it won't detect the signal either. I don't know if
this is my one s or my 4K tv. All I know is none of my other consoles have this problem. But this is the first 4K device I have hooked up so.....

 

Also now it's telling me that my tv doesn't support 4K, even though it does and had the one s in 4K upscale mode.....this is getting old.

 

Spent a couple of hours with support and seems one of my issues was the cable, needs to support hdmi 2.1, hope this helps.

Still have issues with 4K options available but getting base 4K and no black outs now.

 

So the supplied Xbox one s cable didn't work? You had to get a different high speed cable?

 

My supplied cable works fine. If you are connecting to a receiver, it needs to have HDCP 2.2 or most 4K will not work. None of my DVDs would play and even the Roku box popped a message up before had a chance to select anything. Hooking direct to tv should
work fine tho. That's how I had mine hooked first, but then hooked to receiver to get Dolby atmos. Silly me, I should have read up, as the S does not support that or the DTS version! I hear they are thinking about a patch sometime, as it is not a HW issue,
but why release a 4K player without the sound format that goes with it??!! This is why I upgraded instead of going for samsungs UHD player. That's what I get for not doing better research!
