Xbox One S 4K and HDR Issues with Samsung UN65JS8500

    Aloha,

Could someone please help me with the setup of the Xbox One S and the Samsung UN65JS8500? I am unable to get any green checkboxes under the 4K Details section in the Xbox One S settings with the exception of Your TV supports 4K UHD(60hz). Under Watching Movies
and TV and Playing Games, there is a red circle with the red line through it for all 6 categories. I have the Xbox one S connected to HDMI 2, using a HDMI 2.0 cable which is 16 feet and runs though the wall in my living room. I have read that to remedy this
problem that all I need to do is go into the settings on the TV under the Picture Options/HDMI UHD Color and turn HDMI 2 to on. When I do this, then I get a message from the TV that there is no picture signal coming from the Xbox One S. When I turn this setting
back off, the picture from the Xbox One S comes back.

From my understanding this should be a simple adjustment but I am having no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Todd

    :)

Got to agree - USB to HDMI?

You have to at least use the cable directly that came with the Xbox One S - also are you using any AV Receiver. I have a JS9000 TV and no problems like this at all - you are right that HDMI UHD Color should be enabled.

    Hey AlohaTodd,

Thanks for posting! First off, have you tried different HDMI ports on your TV? The HDMI port must support HDCP2.2, and some TV's only have one HDMI port that supports that. Give that a go and if the issue persists on all ports on your TV, let's move onto
    the next steps.

I see you're using a 16 feet cable, are you able to rearrange your set-up temporarily to try the HDMI cable that came included in the Xbox One S console? That would be the next best step to try to narrow down the issue.

  5. I'm sure you should be using HDMI 2.0a.

Explain how you are connected to an HDMI port with a USB cable. I've never heard that one. I'm betting that's your problem.

Had the same issue u have to change the settings in the tv and select the HDMI port the Xbox is connected. Go to menu-picture-picture options- HDMI UHD Color and select the port then all check boxes will show.
