  1. Xbox one s 3D bluray playback broken after latest system software update

    customer support ref 1407247049

3D bluray playback is not working anymore on Xbox one S consoles.

I have repeated the fault on 4 separate Xbox one S consoles and have gone through all troubleshooting reset etc with Customer support see ref number above.

The problem seems to be the 4K video output setting as when this is disabled all the consoles return back to being able to playback 3D bluray Discs. When 4K support is turned back on then 3D bluray playback stops working. Some 3D blurays said are worst than
others as it can hang the console I.e Spiderman Homecoming 3D and Pirates of the Caribbean salazrs revenge 3D. Other 3D blurays just fail to play and the TV goes into standby because no video signal is being output.

If you then change video output to 1080p and disable 4K output the same Bluray movies playback 100%.

I have spent the last 3 days trying to report to this serious software bug to Xbox customer support but they seem to be unable to take it in and get the software team on the case. They seriously told me to leave negative Twitter posts and negative feedback
on this forum for any action to be taken by the Xbox software team.

Can someone at Microsoft, Xbox please get your software team to investigate and fix what was broken in the last software update in regard to 3D bluray playback on the Xbox one S console.

By the way the same discs playback in 3D fine on the original Xbox one console that I still have.

    Thanks

    Mr K Young

  2. Serious system software bug or bug with bluray player app

    hi

I have been told that by Xbox customer support that this is the only way to report a software bug with the Xbox one S console and the latest system software release.

3D bluray playback is not working fully after latest software updates this is a repeatable software bug on at least 4 Xbox one S consoles that I have access too.

The 3D playback can be corrected by temporarily disabiling 4K video output from the system settings menu.

This serious software bug only started to happen after the latest system software update after the Xbox one X was released.

Can you please get your software team to fix and issue a software update ASAP

    Thanks

  3. ATMOS and DTSX Support.

I would love this feature to be added to the Xbox One S, as well. They've got a history of adding things in (3D Bluray Playback) that their fans demand, so I really hope we get this sooner rather than later. I don't blame them for not having it at launch,
but it would really increase the value of the system.

I had the same issue but it seems somewhat resolved now.

I followed your advice about changing the 4k to1080. That alone didn’t resolve the issue for me. I still had no input to the TV. I physically unplugged the HDMI cable from the TV and back in again. Then I saw the movie perfectly in 3D. I changed the Xbox
back to 4k and the 3D is still working. I ejected the disc and re-inserted it. The movie plays fine now.

The next thing I tried is powering off the Xbox to see if the 3D would still play. It didn’t. The good news is that mine works by just unplugging then re-inserting the HDMI cable. I tried using the quick start-up mode of the Xbox
to see if that would somehow persist the ability to play 3D. It made no difference.

So for me it seems all I have to do is unplug and re-insert the the HDMI cable.

It’s not ideal, but for me it’s better than buying a new player which is what I was tempted to do.

    Hope this helps others.

Xbox one s 3D bluray playback broken after latest system software update

    Hi,

This is still a problem for me, but...thx to another member on a different thread I've found a workaround. There's still an issue that exists on the Xbox One X that needs attention and resolution, but at least there is a workaround.

So to recap, playing 3D BluRay discs on the Xbox One X causes the TV to show a loss of signal, like the Xbox One X is no longer outputting an HDMI signal. Very occasionally if I hard reboot the console with the disc still inside and then immediately
play the disc on boot, it works, and the disc plays in 3D, but most of the time not. 3D BluRays plays on the same TV with my One S connected no problem for me, so the issue seems to be with the One X only.

Now for the workaround, which will hopefully lead to the engineers finding and resolving the root cause of the problem also. If I set my Xbox One X, in the Display settings, to 1080p output (I still have the "Allow 4K" and "Allow HDR" checkboxes checked) the
TV switches from 4K 2160p to 1080p display mode as expected. When the Xbox One X is set to 1080p resolution all 3D BluRay discs that I have tried play in 3D first time, without problem. Switching the Xbox One X back to 4K 2160p output, the TV switches back
to 2160p as expected. However now when I try to play 3D BluRay discs, the same issue is back, in that as soon as the Xbox One X tries to set the TV to 3D Move, I get a loss of HDMI signal?

I've no idea is this is an issue specific to the combination of the Xbox one X and LG 3D TV's (as others who are reporting the problem also seem to have LG 3D TV's). Maybe the LG 3D TV's don't like to be switch from 4K to 1080p 3D mode? Or is the
Xbox One X doing something silly, like trying to set 3D mode on the TV, when the display resolution is still 2160p? Which won't work as there's no such thing as 4K 3D.

I have a workaround now, but I'd rather this was investigated, and fixed.

Just to recap, I have an LG 55UH850V 4K HDR 3D LED TV, with the latest firmware from LG.

    Thx

    Hi Xbox Team,

Come on guys this is still an issue. I've not posted about it for a while as I was hoping it would get fixed, but it's still an issue on Xbox One X (and possibly Xbox One S as well). There is a problem with the Xbox One X (and possibly S) switching TV's from
4K output to 1080p 3D mode. I have posted a number of logs from my console also, but no action has been taken on this issue, and it's really really annoying. There is a workaround, but it's not acceptable. Please look into this and please fix.

This is 1000% repro, every single time! If you have the Xbox One X set to output at 2160p, which is my preference as I have a 4K 3D capable TV, insert a 3D BluRay disc, and when the Xbox One X tries to switch the TV to 3D 1080p output, the TV shows a loss of
signal, and it doesn't come back. The signal loss stays until the disc is ejected form the Xbox One X, at which point the 4K signal is restored and the homepage etc displayed.

Note if you put in a 3D BluRay disc that has a 2D menu i.e. the 3D signal isn't switch until the movie starts you won't see this issue until the Xbox One X tries to switch to 1080p 3D output.

I can repro this with any of my 3D BluRay discs. This never used to be an issue until an update that was made around 4 months ago when this issue was originally reported, by myself and many others.

Please see these threads below for other reports of the exact same issue, reported around the same time:

3D no longer works on Blu Ray

Xbox one x 3d Blu Ray problem

Xbox One X 3D BlyRay Problem. Loss of HDMI signal when switch to 3D (Xbox One S doesn't do this)

I notice a lot of people reporting the issue have LG 4K 3D TV's, so maybe there is an incompatibility that has been introduced with the update 4 or so months ago, but it wasn't an issue before so isn't the fault of the LG TV's. For the record I have an LG 55UH850V
    4K 3D HDR TV.

    Many Thanks,

Received a number of system updates, and even a BluRay Player app update since, as it's still an issue. I've even had another LG 4K 3D TV user contact me, and they have the same problem. This is
an LG <-> Xbox One X/S specific issue it seems. Just got Last Jedi 3D today, and put it in, same old problem. The 2D menu presents itself, but as soon as I try and play
the movie, the Xbox One X tries to switch my TV out of 4K and to 3D HD mode, but I get no signal, as does everyone else it seems with an LG 4K
    3D TV?

Again I can work around this by disabling 4K output on my Xbox One X in the Settings to force a 1080p output for the home and guide etc. Then when I put in a 3D BluRay disc it
all works as it should, and the Xbox is able to switch my TV from 180p HD to 3D mode.

Please, please, please, can someone provide some feedback on this issue. I know it's been passed to the dev team for investigation, but nothing has happened to fix the issue, I've had no feedback at all, nor have any of the other LG
    users with the same problem.

Completely happy to have a 1 to 1 conversation on the phone or something to try and help resolve this issue for everyone.
