XBOX One S - 3.5mm jack headset - others can't hear me on chat

Hello,

I am having the same issue as a lot of users here: microphone is not working on my console (nobody can hear me on chat and can't use voice commands).

I am using a regular 3.5mm headphones with handsfree (the regular ones you get with your phone), which are working on every other device I have connected them to.

NAT is Open, the controller has the latest updates, as well as the console itself.

I have used the same headphones on this console since I got it and the problem appeared a few months ago.

The circle around my avatar photo is not lighting up. I can hear myself in the headphones when I speak into the mic.

My temporary workaround is having a conference on Whatsapp with my friends in order to communicate during game time.

I have tried this headset with other devices (laptop, mobile phone, etc.).

The thing is that I can hear myself into the headphone when I'm talking into the mic. It seems that the mic signal is not transmitted to the console...

As you can see from the pictures below, the headset is recognized by the controller and console and I can hear others/in-game sound.

Did you ever figure this out? Im having the exact same issue with my brand new elite controller series 2. It worked perfectly fine and then just randomly stopped. I can hear everyone else and i can hear myself talking in the mic, but its not picking it
up

As I wrote in the initial post, I have been using the same headphones with the
3.5mm jack with my controller since the day I bought the console.

It worked with no issues until a few months ago when I noticed the Double NAT error, which I managed to fix.

Since then, the party/game chat and the console voice commands are not receiving mic input. I can hear everybody in the party, but they cannot hear me. If the mic was not recognized I wouldn't see the headset icon, as in the pictures I attached.

My guess is that it's a software issue that can be fixed with an update (hopefully).

I know that i tried this a while a go when i first got my Xbox, i tried every pair of headphones that had a microphone on it for a phone or talking through for computers purposes. For some reason it does not work through the regular 3.5mm jack, at least
i never could. here are a couple options for you to try.

Get the audio adapter that plugs into the bottom of the controller and plug in your headphones to that, there is a 50/50 chance it will work (it did for me but the volume levels were pretty bad.

If you are going to pay for a adapter, i would suggest just going ahead and paying for a set of headphones, you are going to get better mic quality and audio quality when you do, and you will avoid all the rest of the issues you are having.

Hello, have you tried another helmet? Your controller's jack may be defective.
Have you tried it with another controller? To find out if this comes from the headphone jack
