Xbox One S 1TB Console – Sea of Thieves Bundle - Game code expiry dtes?

    Hello all!

I recently purchased an Xbox One S 1TB Console – Sea of Thieves Bundle. I understand that the current practice is, unfortunately, to include game codes to download the content, rather than bundling physical media. My main concern though is that too often
these codes expire before buyers get around to redeeming them. So my question is, when do the various codes associated with this bundle, for the game, xbox live gold trial, etc, actually expire? Are they still valid, or already expired? I need to know before
opening the box, because once open this cannot be returned to the retailer.

Please let me know ASAP, so I can decide if this system is a keeper or not.

    Thanks.

    :)

Just imagine, that games have two "digital padlocks" so to speak.

For the game to be playable, it's sufficient, if only ONE lock can be opened.

Whenever you buy a downloadable game, your account gets a key to it's "license keyring" stored online on the Xbox online service.

That means, as long as your account is able to go online, it can access its "license keyring" to get the key needed to unlock the game.

A second set of keys for your games is locally stored on your "Home Console". So the console can unlock the game for anyone playing on that console (you, your family members on their own accounts, guests, burglars breaking in your house etc.). Even if the
    console is offline.

However for disc based games, the license key is stored on the disc.

So only the console that has the disc in the drive can access the license key to "unlock" the game with the disc.

So if you intend to play a game on your two consoles at the same time, have your other player play on your "Home Console" (as the console will unlock the download game for them), and you play on your "Non-Home Console", as your account will fetch the game
license key from the online keyring.

Since disc based games only have one key on their disc, only the console with the disc can play the game.

So only download games allow you to play the game on two consoles: The Home Console, and the console you are currently online on.

    Hi there!

I'll do my best to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

As mentioned earlier, digital games you purchase or redeem provides a license to the account that made the purchase and therefore that same account can download those games on whatever Xbox One system you have added your account to. So if you add your same
account that owns the games onto your new system, you can download them no problem because they are your games. It's not tied down per system which is why we emphasize to not create multiple accounts and stick to one that you are going to use for yourself.
As long as you are signed into the account that owns these games, on whatever system, you can download and play your games. Games on the external HD are interchangeable between consoles. Once it's formatted for Xbox One initially, it can be plugged in and
detected by any Xbox One console. You just need to be signed into the account that owns these game to launch and play them from the external HD.

Also, I'll explain the Home console feature a little better so you can set up your two consoles in a way that a second account for guests can play your games with you when they are over. So, every account can have only one console set as it's Home console,
but each console can have multiple accounts added to it and have those accounts using that console as the Home console. Basically you cannot have your new system as the Home console because your account already has your older system as the Home and if that's
the console that the guest will be using then you won't have to do anything other than to create an account for them or if they already have one even better and add it to your old system. Your games will now be shared with them and they won't need to be signed
into your account to play your games while you are logged into your new system on your own account playing with them online through Xbox Live.

If you have any other questions please let us know!

I think it depends. Depends on the game, bundle, service etc. I'm going to do a bit of research, but that information should be provided in the fine print of the bundle, that the codes are subject to expiry. If I find something I'll be sure to let you
    know.

If I were to guess? This being an Xbox bundle, and an Xbox Game Studios published game from a Microsoft owned studio? I'd think that they wouldn't. And they shouldn't. But I'm not going to promise you they don't.

You don't need to "de-home" the console, and if I'm not mistaken, there isn't a way to do it, outside of designating another console as "Home" so whenever you decide which one you want to be home, just set it, and there should be no other worries.

Glad you got the info you needed, and best of luck with the codes!
