  updated your controller’s software to
  support the Stereo Headset ?
• Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions,

• Try your Headset on another
  controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating the first controllergain.
  If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.

This has been quite a read, understanding that there is as well a Reddit thread concerning the same issue and this has been occurring for you on a fairly new console.

We would like to dig in a bit further here, does this happen to be a chat headset that's in use?

In all cases, the muted mic icon or lack of audio settings for headsets is directly related to the headset itself not being detected on the console.

We would like to inquire about what type of controllers have been used as well regarding Xbox One S controllers or Xbox One controllers.

Clarify a few of these items for us and we'll await your response.

Thank you, the headset worked before getting a new Xbox. Worked on the old system. Might have to return the console.
