    Xbox one runs a hidden wifi?


    My xbox that I bought on an auction site often runs a hidden wifi despite that I nave no idea how to turn it off. I do not use any streaming to nearby devices, which makes things even weirder. I know that this is from the xbox one because I measure the wifi
    signal strenght. using a dedicated app in a laptop. What is this and how to turn it off? My xbox one connects to internet most often using cable connection

    Can't connect sometimes

    Hiding the SSID does not protect you against any hacker who runs one of many PC program to look for hidden SSIDs.

    Connecting an Xbox One to a hidden SSID as been the only complication of having a hidden SSID so far. Everything else has connected just as fine as a normal SSID.

    The xbox series x/s is completely incapable of connecting to hidden wifi networks. There are various tricks/hacks people are using which may or may not work, but it is not supported natively.

    I cannot connect to hidden wifi networks. It will not find my ssid when manually entered.

    hi kathy,

    normal wifi works fine on my conslole, it is just hidden networks that it forgets when i power the console down. my computer is on the hidden network and works fine.

    One reason that people may be asking "why do you have a hidden network in the first place?" is that you are only making it harder for yourself to connect with your WiFi network since your network can still be compromised even with a hidden SSID (I'm not
    going to go into specifics regarding that topic since it's likely not one that can be discussed on these forums).
