Xbox one restarts when entering wi-fi password

Please help! I see others are having the same problem. Nothing works to correct this so far. And I cannot hook up a wired network cable due to the location. I have 3 other xbox ones on same network that are working fine.

Any help Microsoft?

System restarts when trying to connect to live

same exact problem. started happening May 10. xbox one restarts during wi fi login. it works fine when wired to the router, only on wifi.

When I went to the network settings to type my Wi-Fi password, MY Xbox one shut off a few seconds later then booted back up without with out it connected. How do I fix this. And wired works. I want to get Wi-Fi to work

I've seen this problem range back on the Xbox 360 as well.

What you could try is to connect your console with an Ethernet solution, where in some cases, the internal wireless network adapter has come back to life again. I'm not asking you to fully set up your console, as using an HDMI source. Instead, the only two
bits of pieces you'll need is A) Power supply and B) Ethernet cable. This is all that should be needed for your console to obtain an IP, and work its way trough the TCP/IP stack, and hopefully, bring some attention to your console's system to have it acknowledge
the existens of the internal wireless network adapter as well.

Let us know how that goes.

 

I'm also having the exact same problem. It works perfectly on a wired connection though. I hope Xbox comes up with a solution or update to this issue :/

 

Do you have Time Warner Cable, and is your Gateway a TC8717T or TC8715D? If so the steps below seem to resolve others with this same problem.

1.Open a web browser.

2.Log into the router by entering the default gateway into the address bar of the internet browser. (Example
http://192.168.0.1/ )

3.The gateway will then prompt for a user name and password. The default is the user name “admin” and the password is “password”.

4.From the menu on the left select Gateway.

5.From the submenu on the left select Connection.

6.From the next submenu select WiFi.

7.Under Private WiFi Network select Edit on the Network you wan to use.

8.Select the "Show More Security Options" (allow the pop up)

9.Select WPA TKIP (about the 6th option from the bottom)

10. Press Apply. (confirm the prompt about WPS no one used that and it is kind of insecure)

11. Select Save.

 

I was having the same issue! My wired connection worked without an issues but when I tired to connect through wifi, my xbox one just kept restarting when I would enter my password. Thanks Genesis1953 your suggestion worked! No one has been able to help me
out, I've contacted both Time Warner and Xbox support but both kept blaming each other.

Please keep in mind that not only is TKIP obsolete, but it will also revert the speeds of your WLAN back those speeds of 802.11g

 

This worked for me, but will it continue to work if I change back to original security option?
