Xbox ONE Report Card.

Guess I will truly know which is better tomorrow as my Uncharted Bundle is arriving to go on the shelf beside my Xbox One.

 

I'm just saying, imo the PS4 does indeed have much better exclusives and allot more of them. The XB1 tv ad at the moment trying to get people to buy one for xmas says, "Best Xbox games ever" and then shows a picture of 5 games, gears, forza, halo, Tomb raider
and rare replay. The exclusives we do get are very different from the ps4 exclusives in the fact that they are generally "easy to play" games. If I was to do that ad I'd still be selling DR3 and Sunset Overdrive because these 2 exclusives are by far the best
imo. I think the biggest games lined up are going to be scale bound and Quantum Break, however we are never going to see the likes of Yakuza or the tales series. I myself can't game in a %100 western library and like last gen have all 3 brand names. Go on,
tell me how wrong I am and how much I don't know about gaming However I honestly am having an awesome time on the XB1, it is an excellent console. My only real problem is the lack of diverse exclusives yet we always knew this with XB being an NA console.

 

All I can say after a littel over a year of gaming on One is that I wish I would've gotten PS4 first and would now just be saving up for One. Unfortunately I did it the other way around. It's funny, previous gen I was so happy with my 360 and my PS3 was
seriously neglected.

Of the games I've played on both PS4 and Xbox one I can tell the difference. The colors are bolder on Xbox One with less draw distances. I also get a strange motion blur around the barrel of guns when panning left in right which isn't present on PS4 versions.
Destiny is the worst of offender. The older games where obviously different such as BF4, COD ghosts, Tomb Raider DE...ect. The last year or so the gap has closed considerably, now they're pretty much the same aside from the blur on weapons and fast moving
objects. None of this is a deal breaker however. It isn't that big of a deal.

 

You're right, it isn't a big deal. A year ago I would never buy a cross platform title for the XB1, I really only started once my 2tb drive was full on the PS4. Now I'm getting all the new cross platforms on the XB1 due to USB HDD support. The gap now is
next to nothing, recently bought fallout 4 and Just cause 3 and they play fine. However I'll never stop playing Japanese games and therefore own all 3 current consoles. I can read kanji/kana and get into those rpg's deep, I mean months deep. I so want MS to
succeed in the East, but the deeply rooted NA's just won't budge.

 

@ azrael no it proves you can tell the difference, they were correctly identified 3 or 4 times across two games and from a distance that looks about 6 ft,on a 27"screen at 5ft you only just start seeing the benefit of 720p and you need to be within 2ft of
it to get the full benefit of 1080p, if anything it proves there's more than just resolution to differentiate them.

 

I've had both systems for about a year, and while the PS4 has a far superior UI in terms of speed and intuitive layout, they're both pretty equal as far as graphics and gameplay. Exclusives is a moot point for me...I really can't think of any exclusive
that would make me run out and buy a console just to play. The Last Of Us is my favorite exclusive, but again, not worth the cost of a system.

I think backward compatibility at no cost to players has been a fantastic gesture. Sony, as a company, sucks as far as I'm concerned and they monetize everything.

Bottom line: both consoles come with pros and cons. Pick your brand and be happy with it.

 

The PS4 does have a lot of exclusives but MS is doing good at securing some as well. The PS4 will have 3 or 4 times as many in about 2 years.

Now I'm going to have to wonder if the thing is going to actually bring home it's report card, or if I'll have to find a way to see it for myself, come up with some kind of incentive to make sure it keeps doing its best and applying itself... who knows what
I'll have to bribe it with to make it keep good grades...

There's a lot wrong with the new UI. Especially when utilising Snap features without Kinect. Used to be I could tap Home twice and hit right quickly in the context menu. Pick an app, unsnap, and hit Home twice at any time, and press right again... to have
the app snap back in. Quick and easy. Good for achievement tracking.

Now I have to hit Home twice, scroll down to the snap feature, select it, select the app. When I close it, it's gone forever. Every time it's several actions more than the old UI.

Game DVR. Could hit Home twice, hit Right for the snapped Game DVR, begin recording. Or, do something cool, hit home twice and choose the length of the clip. Now if you want to snap Game DVR and record, it stops recording when you unsnap it. Which means
you have to record stuff with it snapped, which means the capture is in a weird aspect ratio. Meh.

The new UI seems to be like a... uh... new front-end covering up the same old OS. It's like cheap wallpaper covering an icky-coloured wall, it's peeling in places, too. Heh ha. Otherwise I quite like the way it looks. It's functionality is actually worse
in places though.

You said the "without the internet to tell you" to me in a previous discussion, regarding frames per second. I defy anyone not to notice the difference in 60 to 30 FPS. I went from almost two weeks straight of Fallout 4 to Wolfenstein... the difference is
glaring. You could go from Battlefront to any 30 fps game, takes time to adjust back to it. Don't need the internet to tell you that.

I agree though with the sentiment regarding quality across systems.. my bro is gaming on a PS4 and always banging about more foliage in Shadow of Mordor, [what?] higher resolutions in Watch_Dogs [how big's your TV, how far do you sit from it?] Parity across
systems, [Parity? lol] . Whatever multiplat I'm playing I tend to get a message that he's played a better version.

He quotes Digital Foundry a lot too. Digital Foundry, when comparing Xbox One to PS4... it's like comparing a Titan X card to a Titan 980ti card... pointless. But they have to create content to survive I suppose. So, why not compare things that will have
pretty much the same results every time? People seem to lap it up. {XD
