  1. Xbox One Replaced 4 times - Still No Idea What The Issue Is!!

So I have a problem that no online source can seem to diagnose. Hopefully someone on this forum has some insight.

I bought an Xbox One in October 2016. It worked well for a week and then died (would not switch on). It took a few weeks, but Microsoft replaced it as it was under warranty. The replacement died within a few days (same problem). Xbox No. 3 did not survive
even 3 days before it died. At this point, I was obviously at my wits end. I live in India, where the after sales support is nil. So each time, all I can do it return the Xbox and get a replacement.

The 4th Xbox arrived 2 weeks ago and worked for a remarkable 12 days before it too died on me. Deciding I'd rather void the warranty and get some answers, I took it to a service centre (non-authorised). They did some tests and told me that the XBox had over
heated and they managed to fix it (charged me a fair bit though).

I'm now trying to figure out how to prevent this rectified XBox from dying again

    To be clear:

    1. I have always kept the Xbox and power brick well ventilated in a room with a fan right above it
    2. At no point during game play did any error message come up stating that the console was too hot
    3. My power brick glows orange when on standby and white when the console was running
    4. I plug the power supply directly into the wall (no surge protectors)
    5. When not in use, I shut off the console
I chatted briefly with XBoxSupport and was told that it may be my power brick (even though everything in Xbox literature keeps confirming that as long as the lights aren't flickering, it's working fine).

Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Can my power brick be defective and slowly damaging the console over a period of days? It seems completely bizarre and I'm yet to find an explanation.

    Would appreciate any insights. Thanks

    :)

I had the same issue the first 3 or 4 times I tried Peggle multiplayer.

But after that it started working. No idea what the problem was.

Xbox one disk ejecting ingame and when the console should be off.

I have now replaced my console 4 times and this problem still persist . I have called in and know one can tell me anything. This is beyond frustrating since I had numerous problems with the xbox360 and now the xbox one.

My first guess would be the power brick.

Was the console brand new when you bought it & are you using the correct power brick for your country?

  5. Yes - brand new. And it's the right one for my country.

Xbox support insists that if the orange light is solid on standby, everything is fine. Is there any way to check the power brick other than looking at the light?

Hello adhisethi, I'm no Internet Expert (although we do have a forum user registered by that name - hopefully he can shed some light on the matter), but it seems incredulous that Xbox after Xbox is dying for you, and there's no apparent cause. Well, since
you mentioned you're living in India, is it not possible that your utilities (ie, electricity provider and residential wiring) might be at fault? You've mentioned not having a surge protector, so I can't help thinking there's some form of interruption to the
power supply or transformer. Because common sense would tell you that Microsoft does not produce faulty products for the sake of it.

Hope you can get some answers soon.

I'd be willing to bet it has something to do with the socket/outlet you are plugging it into. Can you try to plug it in somewhere else in the house to see if it lasts longer?

The lack of replacable HDD slot is a joke !

Why is it such an issue with a Non-replaceable HDD?! So what, what's the problem? Simply plug in any External Drive and you're good to go with as much Memory as one wants.

The idea of using the restriction that the Xbox 360 had for 32Gb External Storage does not apply to the Xbox One.
