Xbox One Remote // Suddenly won't work properly

Hi all,

My Xbox One Remote dont work properly anymore. It worked perfectly in the beginning. Now i need to press 2 times the same button until something works, mute button wont work and I can't press the Xbox button long for a log off / shut down!

Any suggestions?

The xbox app won't work

The xbox app won't work properly as a remote the choice to use my phone to type and copy/paste does not pop up in need help ASAP.

Mic muted on Fortnite

My mic is suddenly muted on Fortnite without me muting it. It won't let me unmute it. I bought a new headset and it still won't work in either remote. The parental controls are right, no clue what's going on.

Please try performing a hard reset on your console EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back
in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test the results. Let us know. Good Luck!!

I tried your technique a handful of times with no luck, then on the 5th time - voila! Thanks so much for this!!

Do you know what caused it to happen in the first place, as to avoid a potential repeat?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

In this case, we just need to reset your console keeping your games and apps through the Xbox Troubleshooter page. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

"1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone."

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox" then "Reset and keep my games and apps".

I have no other controllers. I disconnected it and reconnected it and no change. I tried four different USB ports. It still won't work properly. There is no dirt in it. It was working fine this morning and then suddenly started doing this.
