Xbox One Remote not able to off console anymore

I would check the batteries and ensure the controller is clean. This has nothing to do with the update but rather would be a controller function, possibly key or button issue with the controller.

Controllers have a 90 day warranty and can be replaced if found to be at fault in this time frame. You would contact the hardware team at 1-800-469-9269 in the US if it's within warranty and the troubleshooting steps do not resolve. You can also create

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have an issue with the remote. Unfortunately, I have been not able to find anything on the remote turning your TV off. It will run cable, sound receivers, but these need to be set up through the console.
This remote is strictly like a controller exclusively for the console. It will work on devices that run through the console. Like cable can be set up through one guide.

If you do not have an IR repeater hooked to the XBOX, or you do not have KINECT and expect to be able to control your TV, this remote is not what you want.

In my experience the Xbox One Kinect is often not able to turn sound bars on and off.

There is an issue with the remote codes for sounds bars on many universal remote controls not just the Xbox one. If you can locate a code online, you can try entering it but this may be limited to volume and not powering on/off

Hello, thanks a lot for the trick.

After a few days of tests, it seems working pretty well now.

The only strange thing is that after 20 minutes of being powered off (always in instant mode) the Xbox app takes two downloads to start the first one, while, if I turn on the Xbox remotely, I’m able to see my games list change in real time and to download immediately. I have the feeling that the console isn’t able to proper communicate remotely when in a deep state of “sleep” (20+ minutes after turning it off and putting it in instant on).

Do I have to consider this a normal behavior? Or i should be able to download and see my games list change in real time from remote even when the console is turned off (instant on)?

i also have a question or certain questions about the remote play. i want to really understand how remote play functions like all the ins and outs. so my first question is, are you allowed to use remote play when the console is off? because i tried the opposite of that Friday and it worked but if i were to turn the console completely off am i still able to access my games and play them through the Xbox app when the system is turned off?
