Xbox one region free gaming

Hello Everyone! Recently I've been doing a lot of research on the subject of region free games and engaged with the xbox live chat support on many occasions with questions on this matter. I have been inquiring about buying USA xbox one games and taking
them home to the United Kingdom to play on my United Kingdom bought xbox one. At first all three official Microsoft xbox one live chatters completely shut me down and said it would defiantly not work when I returned home. I began disputing this with all the
statements released by Microsoft in interviews about region free gaming with reputable gaming web sites. They asked for these links and checked them, saying that they were not reliable sources and not directly from Microsoft. I thought this seemed fair enough
and then disputed this piece of information on the official Microsoft xbox website = Supported regions, formats and disc types Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console
can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console. See the following tables for the countries in each disc region. Note Game discs for the Xbox One console are not coded to regions. they all slowly opened up on information about
region free gaming. Each official support chatter giving me a little bit more information than the last. Once they verified this I asked the official live chatter this (all three different official chatters too) you: Ah ok, so if I was to buy a USA game and
take it back home to England the game would work 100% offline Chuck: Yes that is correct. So after a huge cat and mouse game with Microsoft I have three official transcripts from live official chat supporters which say the games will work if I am offline on
the console. Has anyone out there tried and tested this? Could you access all the online features of the game or just the offline? Many thanks!

The Xbox one is region free for games.

But for DVD's and Blu-rays, it is region locked. So your Xbox from the states would only be able to play region 1 discs

 

Chat support is usually wrong. You can play any xbox one game on any xbox one console no matter where either was bought

From what I have heard when they did the back flip xbone games were announced as region free. Not sure about DVD movies or blue ray disc movies they might possibly have restrictions.

I can give you proof on this one. I'm in Australia and had pre-ordered my console. Due to some timing I was actually in transition from USA to Australia upon the launch so I missed it in both countries. Prior to me leaving USA, there were a few games
that got released prior to the console. With our exchange rate difference, it was cheaper for me to buy a couple of games over there. I decided to risk it and bought NBA 2K14 and Battlefield. When I arrived back in AUS and picked up my console, I tried
both games out and they both work fine. No issues at all.

I know that the Disc Based Games are region free, meaning you can use a PAL disc in an NTSC Console and vice versa. I have tried it.

However, does anyone know if the DLC is region free? Not in relation to the console itself but to the disc used. For example if I had a PAL Disc of Titanfall can I purchase the season pass of the US (NTSC) Marketplace? Would it work?

The reason why I am asking is that I did the foregoing, but the Season Pass still says "Ready to Install" even though I've pressed it several times.

 

warlord97a you would need a us account to access the us marketplace to download the season pass. if warlord is in the pal region that is the marketplace or store you are connecting to regardless of where you are in the world when connecting to xbox live.
If warlord is a NTSC region account and you are using a PAL region free disc then you may have proven that it wont work.

 

this i one of my favorite things about x1 pointless region coding is gone. there is no harm in buying a gaming in another country its still your money getting spend. all this devs trying to have control over who can buy what is ridiculous
