Xbox one recording my own voice and others during gameplay

Sometimes using 3.5mm to 2.5mm can have problems with a loose or spotty connection and it doesn't always work. You can using traditional PC gaming headsets that have built in mics but it doesn't always work particularly if the plugs for the mic/headset and
separate.



The 360 uses a standard 2.5mm phone headset jack so if you have a phone headset with mic, that might work but I do not believe a microphone only would work. Unless it was one of the Xbox 360 microphones for those singing games.



As for the title of this thread, if I understand you correctly you plan to record voice for gaming videos you want to upload onto youtube. The problem with this is that the Xbox 360 does not play your voice in line with the game/console itself. The only
way to record your voice would be to play back an Xbox LIVE voice message that you recorded or have someone else record the gameplay and your voice in line with the recording of on their game card/device. They would have to setup the voice audio to playback
through their speakers so that it is picked up during the gameplay.



Like the previous poster stated, you can easily record your own voice on your computer and then edit it into the gameplay. If you don't want to record your voice in post while viewing pre-recorded footage, then set up a separate microphone to your computer
when you are recording your gameplay live and then sync it up with your footage when editing.

now recording their audio without their knowledge is a no no.

if you are recording your own gameplay and voice and friends voices with their permission then everything should be fine.

Actually I do have some gameplay recordings where my Xbox 1 randomly recorded some seconds of my gameplay in Zoo Tycoon and perhaps a few other games. I think it was the DVR feature or something until I learned how to turn it off. I could look up how to
use the Kinect to record. I have some favourite Xbox Youtuber's who use their own PVR (mine is the HD PVR2 Hauppauge). Voice Commands is locked for NZ locale but from what I read in news.xbox.com in the July Update they may be unlocking it for NZ locale without
us having to switch it to Australia locale just to try out voice commands.

As others have already stated, you cannot record your voice using the built in video recording feature. There are some other ways you can achieve this, but it is not possible using the Xbox game clip feature. One way would be to use a capture card like an
Elgato to record your gameplay or you can stream through Twitch and enable archiving, which will save your videos for 14 days that you can then download from Twitch's website to save on your PC or upload to a storage device. I'm not sure how well this works,
but you can also try streaming your gameplay to the Xbox App for Windows 10 and then use a streaming software like OBS to record and save your gameplay. All of this should record gameplay and voice.

Using the voice command "Xbox, record that" records the last 30 seconds of gameplay. Alternatively you can open the Game DVR by snapping it to the side and choose to record the future or up to the last 5 minutes of gameplay.
