    Xbox One: Record Live TV


    Using the xbox one digital tv tuner in Australia, is it possible to record TV (not cable etc, free to air stations)?

    I know you can use timeshifting, but I'm only interested in scheduling recordings.

    Sorry but you cannot record live TV from the Xbox One using DVR. You can only use the DVR to record Xbox One video games.

    Hello, FoundRumble!

    I'm not familiar with the TV One guide as I do not use it, however I have found a couple of support links that should help you out. The third link is about how to record programs using the one guide and your xbox remote controller but by accessing a Skybox
    etc..

    Unfortunately I don't think you can record programs from the one guide straight to an external hard drive.

    No I don't believe so mate - the Game DVR is purely to capture gaming clips.

    Thanks for the quick response. That's very disappointing. Not sure I would have upgraded from the 360 or I may have looked at other platforms if I'd known that before I bought it. Windows media center was sufficient for my streaming and recording needs.

    For the USA, it is SUPPOSED to have RECORDING sometime this year 2016.

    BUT... Nowhere in the web, have I found any DATE for the release.

    That has been my reason for getting the TV Card. My home OTA PVR via ATI is crappy.

    And I figured a TV Card built solely for XBox One hardware/software would give better reliability.

    ............

    SO.............................

    Does ANYONE know about when we will get THIS feature?

    AKA.. Early, Mid, End of 2016 ?

    Are you wanting to record shows from the TV, or gameplay?

    If it's gameplay, you would need an external video capture device and software to record the gameplay.

    If it's TV programs, no. Live TV cannot be recorded from an Xbox One.

    Sorry but you cannot record live TV from the Xbox One using DVR. You can only use the DVR to record Xbox One video games.

    Cant stream xbox one guide to my pc anymore

    I use one guide to stream other consoles to my pc using the xbox console companion then use recording software to record them and I was not trying to record live tv using one guide to copy tv shows I use one guide so I can record my other game consoles
    because I dont have a hdmi recorder xbox one guide is the only way for me to record my other consoles.

    It depends what kind of tv tv have and whether you have an external harddrive attached to the TV that can record the programme onto it. If you have a smart tv for example then you will be able to record live tv and programmes onto a usb or harddrive,
    but if you want to record tv tving just your xbox then you can record game footage and videos but watching live tv is currently not an option unless you have a smart tv. Sorry, hope this helps you out and all the best.
