Xbox one randomly shuts off during gaming

That is also something I thought might be a problem. But I have added an external fan and the xbox is sitting on top of a shelf and not next to any other objects that might make it warm. The xbox does not feel hot to the touch when it shuts off and it will
shut off after 5 minutes of play even after it has been sitting all day.

Are there other ways that I can ensure that the xbox is not getting too hot?

Change the power source, that is your problem because already in a more extreme case the processor isn't working well or as a last option, check that it has adequate ventilation

Kind of sounds like its overheating.

In regards to changing the power source - I borrowed the power cord from a friend's xbox one s who has never had any problems, however, the xbox continues to shut down despite the change in cord.

In regards to the adequate ventilation - the xbox is sitting on the top of a shelf with nothing else around it that might be hindering the fans. There is also never a warning of the xbox being too hot. Are there other suggestions to help keep the xbox cool
in case I am not doing enough for the ventilation?
