    Xbox One Randomly Launching YouTube


    So I was in the middle of playing Evolve yesterday and out of no where, my Xbox opens YouTube. Once YouTube opens, it starts playing a video on how to pronounce the word melee (weirdest thing ever). Keep in mind, I haven't pressed any buttons, and still
    am not. Then after the video, it goes to play a Mario video game video. I don't have kinect so I couldn't talk to it or anything. It was just really weird and didn't know if anyone else has had an issue like this?

    YouTube app not launching

    Do you have an external drive? If so and youtube has been downloaded to it try moving the app back to the Xbox One drive. Some people have had luck in launching some things that weren't launching when they were on an external drive.

    When the service alert for Youtube is lifted, try launching the Youtube app.

    I also got an achievement saying I synced a mobile device to my Xbox, when I never did anything. So is someone somehow doing this?

    I tried the following and now it works (at least FIFA 15 that I just tried):

    I uninstalled Youtube, closed XBOX One, started it again and re-installed Youtube.

    After re-installing Youtube, I could launch it and then I tried FIFA 15 and it launched as well.

    It might be a co-incidence that it worked, but in any case I feel I had to inform you.

    I have two XBOXs, both have the same problem...hard locks randomly while using the youtube app.

    The problem started right after the latest version of the youtube app came out. The lockup did not start ultil the youtube update and does not occur when not using youtube.

    You'd think fault logs would be generated if it's software and an update applied.

    Hey there SharpComa901!

    Sorry to hear about the issue with the YouTube app! I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get the issue sorted:

    • From the Home screen, navigate to My Games & Apps.
    • Under the Apps tab, select YouTube and press the Menu button.
    • Select Manage and then select Uninstall.
    • After the app has uninstalled, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console has powered off, wait a few minutes and then power on your console.
    • Navigate back to My Games & Apps and under the Apps tab, select YouTube under the Ready To Install section.
    • Select Install and after the app has installed, try launching it.
    Give the suggested steps a try and let us know how it goes. Thanks in advance!
