    Xbox one quit reading disks.

I bought three day one systems for my kids and myself on launch. Mine and my oldest kids xbox ones occasionally won't read disk and it'll take several trys but our third box for my youngest two just kept getting worse over time and now it won't read any
disk anymore. I've been a loyal xbox owner for over 7 years. Is there an easy fix or how do I go about getting it repaired?

    :)

  3. Xbox One Disk not reading

Same here....Christmas morning....Set everything up.....Had trouble getting on live....then it later worked....Updated console and it doesnt read a single disc. Brand new out the box.....Tried all the reset and leave the power unplugged. Nothing works.....It
must have a bad drive......Very Sad that so many people are experiencing the same problem and what a terrible day to be so disappointed. I bought a brand new one and I want a brand new one. This will turn people away from Microsoft products if this is
not resolved in a proper manner. My son had a 360 and wanted the new one. He is very disappointed and I am too......Got this on black Friday and had no clue that this was a issue. I would have tried it out to make sure it worked if I knew this was a known
    problem. Very Sad on Microsoft.

    Hi III Mighty,

I'm sorry your having all of these disc issues. So you could be running into a couple of issues here. So before you go ahead and just send your console's in to be repaired I'd like you to try a few things. If non of them work or you really just want to
send them in to have this issue fixed. I will give you instructions on how to send these consoles in for repair. But first here are a few quick fixes.

    1) So the majority of disc issues are with the actual disc it self. Have you checked to make sure that the disc(s) is(are) readable. Easy way to check is to flip the disc over to the silver side. Look to see if there is allot of scratches on the disc(s).
If there are you might want to look into disc cleaning solutions. If you have just a few scratches and nothing to big, then your disc should work. Always good to try is pour water (not allot) on the disc and wipe it with a soft cloth (not a rough that will
    just scratch the disc more).

    2) Have you updated your consoles since you bought them? Easy way to find out if they require an update. Go to Settings on your console > Then select the system tile > then in the first column, under console info should read "No update available" : If it
read's "Console needs updating" or "update available" > Select the Update Available text ( Only if it appears. If it doesn't dont worry about this step) *Note your console needs to be connected to internet to see and update your console. support.xbox.com/.../connecting-to-xbox-live

    3) If those two things didn't work, Xbox provides a lovely article with even more solutions.

This article also goes a bit more indepth than I have, so please fee free to look at it.

Okay, so your console(s) still wont read your disc(s) well this might just be a hardware issue. So let's go ahead and send your console(s) in for a repair. Now xbox made this process super easy. I'll give you instructions on how to do this but will also
provide you with an article on how to do this.
    support.xbox.com/.../getting-your-product-serviced

Step One - Visit Xbox One Support | Xbox 360 Support | Xbox Live and Billing Support (please makesure your signed into your Xbox Account)

Step Two - Scroll down to the very bottom of the page. You should see a section that reads "Support Resources" select the "Repair" resource. This will bring you to the Xbox service center.

Step Three - Now if you haven't done so already you'll need to register your consoles. This is very simple. Underneath the text "How can we help you?" are a few tiles with text in them. Please click on the tile that reads "Register A Device". Once there
follow the on screen instructions to register your console.

Step Four - Now that you've registered your device select the "home" tab. This will brin gyou to the original service menu. Once again under the "How can we help you?" text is a tile that reads " Problem with a device" select this tile. This will bring you
    to the service request.

Step Five - Select the console you'd like to service first. Do this by clicking the tile with the correct console info. *Note only consoles you have registered will appear here. Once you've selected the console. You will be asked to fill out some information
( like, issues with the console, address ect.) just follow the onscreen instructions. After your all done you'll get a packing information and all you'll have to do from there is send the package. Note the service center will make it very simple and easy for
you to ship they also provide shipping instructions.

I hope I was able to help you out. If you have any more questions or issues please don't hesitate to post again. Or you could even call 1-800-4MY-XBOX (US) for additional support. Note if you are receiving error codes you may want to look them up. Do this
by going to xbox.com hover over support a drop down-menu will appear. Select the second to last tab " Error & Status Code Search". Type your code in and search. The system searches the whole website with solutions or even forum post of others having the same
    issues.

    Installing game to HD

you mean its quitting 4% into the HD pack install? The cant read disk error is a new one on me , perhaps the disk is damaged or corrupt.

the game will still play fine but without HD textures , if i were you id return it and get new or try and get the textures off a friends disk.

If its faulty your entitled to a new copy

    Halo 4 will not read

Hello, try to clean your disks with a soft cloth, then retry to read them.

If your xbox still doesn't read the disks, go to your retailer and ask for more informations (if the disks work on another console), if they can be read from another console (the retailer one?), the problem is in your xbox's cd reader.

    XBOX One S

That may sound strange, but if you "hold" the disk for 2 seconds while inserting on the console, the xbox will pull the disk with more strength, then let go of the disk and see if it will read. This happened with my old xbox one, it would only read disks
if i did this, don't know why.

    XBox One not reading disks

I sometimes get an error with disc not reading, so I do hard shutdown (hold power button for like 6-7 seconds etc), unplug, leave for 30 seconds, turn back on. I'd try this before doing complete factory reset.
