Xbox ONE Question concerning a factory reset and digital games

I bought an Xbox ONE off of ebay and it came with games installed on the hard drive (digital games) If I were to reset it to factory defaults would I still be able to re-download those games even though they're not linked to my account? Because the
person who sold it to me has his/her account has this Xbox set as it's home Xbox so I should be able to right?

After thoroughly reading your post I do have one question I would like to clarify.

Since it tends to happen during game play, would your game Destiny 2 be a digital or disc game?

Now, when you mention doing the 'soft reboot' do you mean the
Soft Factory Reset? Which means resetting your Xbox One X to factory defaults but keeping your games and apps?

Just remember that you will need to download the game if you ever have to reset your Xbox one to factory settings.

I hope you weren't bamboozled into paying for those digital downloads...

 

The person I bought it from has 100% feedback out of 3818 so I doubt he/she will unset my Xbox as it's home and render the games unusable.... And besides a friend of mine pretty much has all the games I have digitally so if worst comes to worst I can just
set my Xbox as his home on his profile and get them back.

 

How come is that you'd need access to the person's account to download them again.

It may be his Home Xbox but all the content is still part of his account.

 

I don't have the persons profile on here and the games still work, if I uninstall them I can redownload them again that's why I'm asking can I still do that even if I factory reset my console or will it wipe the license associated with the profile that owns
the games?

 

Update: I just tried this and it does indeed work, for anyone else wondering the same you can sleep easy tonight because it works

I would think that is like marketplace theft.

 

factory reset will not change the consoles home.. it needs to be manually removed. If I am correct.

That being said...all it takes is for his account sub to lapse or add another home console.. and all of those games are gone....
