XBOX ONE powers off unexpectedly

I purchased the XBOX One new for Christmas last year though Microsoft and having huge issue with the console powering off unexpectedly.

Original xbox had issues a few months after purchase with shutting down randomly. Console and power supply do not seem hot and no error messages on screen after a shut down. It took several months for support to give me the official send it in for repair.
Since then then huge headaches, not getting a return phone call, and even getting emails bounced back when sent I reply to customer support.

I have now returned the unit twice and the latest repair / console I have is still having the same issues.

Support at this point has said they were not sure what the issue is and can you take it to gamestop to test the power supply?

I'm a little shocked about the recommendation of taking to another company to help test vs a Microsoft Center, but then again...

Current testing / troubleshooting:

Standard testing with support for power supply and console

Tested using another wall outlet

Tested wall outlet to confirm voltage was correct

Another room/tv

New power supply

What does it take to get a new unit vs my unit refurbished?

At this point I would rather just send in everything and get a full refund!

Yeah I got hold of microsoft 3 times and on the 3rd they said I had to either exchange it or send it in. But when u do get a hold of them they will tell u to hold the power button for 10secs then unplug your console completely wait 1 min then reconnect it

Mine has been doing this as well. I'll launch Netflix and it powers off completely. I'll launch Upload Studio and it does the same thing. There's no consistency when it does it (although it's usually at least once every day or two - especially if I'm switching
apps a lot.) I wasn't sure if this was a general launch software issue or if this is something I should get an exchange for. I'm starting to think the latter and that a patch won't fix this. Other than that, it runs perfectly fine. Thankfully it hasn't ever
powered off during the middle of a game or movie though.

We are having the same issue with our xbox one, and it is one yr old too! Have not bothered with the sending it in for repairs cause I know it will be a pain and i think the warranty ran out anyways.

Not worth the $600.00 I spent last yr on this model...might have to look into the PS4 instead..

Hi Metalgerm,

See the link below to troubleshoot the Xbox turning off unexpectedly. Also one other thing to note is power. If your Xbox is plugged into a power strip, unplug it from this and plug it directly into the wall. Plugging it into the wall is best practice and
resolves a lot of power issues.

We are having the same issue with our xbox one, and it is one yr old too! Have not bothered with the sending it in for repairs cause I know it will be a pain and i think the warranty ran out anyways.

Not worth the $600.00 I spent last yr on this model...might have to look into the PS4 instead..

I sent my console in for repair on December 7th and received another console on December 20th. At first I thought everything was fine however I encountered the same problem two more times. I contaced Gamestop where I purchased my console and asked if
I could just get a new console. Initially they told me yes and then when I arrived at the store I was told that since it wasn't the original unit and had been replaced with another unit from Microsoft, they could not do the exchange. They offered to refund
the extended warranty that they sold me when I purchased the console. I have to contact Microsoft again and see what the next step is for me. I really think it's the power supply in my case because I have a hard time believing that I have two defective consoles
but I have been wrong before. My power supply getts extremely hot and unlike some other users on this forum, mine doesn't make any sound at all. I don't hear any fans or buzzing from my unit. Does anyone else have any issues with there power supplies?
I guess I have to contact Microsoft support again and wait. This has become a nightmare and I'm losing patience.

i just got off the phone with the hardware department and i told them about all the noises and other problems that have been going on if they are aware of these and they said no they are not aware of these problems. i asked if they even looked at the forms
on just XBOX ONE problems and they said they have not even been looking at the forms. i told him to start looking at them and told him to pass it on to head Microsoft people to look at the forms. cuz most of the problems going on they dont even know about
or heard about. i told the dude that there is lots and lots of people having these problems and there all one the forms, so he better start looking at them. -You people need to start calling them and telling them these things.

Anyone has found a solution for this? I ordered a new consolve via the advance replacement system but it seems like the problem could be with the power brick..... Anyone know how I can get a new power birck?
