Xbox One Powers Off and Then Powers On again?

Okay.. so this has been happening to me for a while now. The system works fine. It does even power down. The only problem is I have to power it down twice. I can use the controller, the power options or voice commands to power down.. and the system will
power down fine. After it is completely off, it powers back on. Then I can repeat any method of shut down and it will stay off fine.

I can do a hard shut down by holding down that button and of course that keeps it off. I have done everything you would expect. Unplugging power, reset factory defaults. Checked power settings. All the goodies. Even been searching for a solution for over
a month. Can't figure out why it wants to turn back on once. I say once, because it is not a constant rebooting. If I turn it off a second time it stays off. Plus it only happens after the system has been off for a few hours.

I say "Xbox Turn off.. yes" The Xbox One shuts off, the immediately turns back on. I say "Xbox Turn off.. yes" again, and it will turn off and stay off.

I can come back in an hour and play for a bit and the say "Xbox Turn off.. yes" and it will turn off and stay off... but if I leave it over night. It will reboot at least once.

    :)

    Issue With directv

Since the April update when my Xbox One powers on my Directv does not power on. Same thing when it powers off the directv stay on. Looked in the power setting and for some reason it is set to do nothing when the xbox powers on and off and there is NO
way to change to turn on when xbox powers on send section or off in the when xbox powers off send section! How can I get this option back? Thanks for any assistance.

  3. Xbox one powers on then off again

Same problem. I had mine for all of 3 days and then it conked on me. Looked everywhere online, tried all the troubleshooting....nada. Put in for the advanced exchange this afternoon. I like Xbox, but sadly this isn't the first issue I've had with the brand...
had to replace my original, had 4 360's (4!!!), and now it's looking like I'm going onto my second ONE. It's annoying but if MS do the right thing by me and take care of it properly I'll stay loyal.

Any time the system is off for more than about 4 hours or so. So it could happen once a day if I only start it once a day.. or it could happen 6 times that day if I wait 4 hours between start up. I will not bounce if it has been only a short time off. Only
seems to happen when the system has been off for about 4 hours or more.

Okay.. I figured out what is causing the reboot issue in terms of hardware. The official Xbox One Play and Charge kit. Since I got my Xbox One I noticed that if I shut down my Xbox, and then plugged in my controller to charge the Xbox would turn back on.
So to work around this solution I figured it would be better to plug in the controller to charge before I shut down.. so it would not reboot. However I didn't put the two together, as it seems the system reboots BECAUSE of the play and charge kit.

Last night I was playing a game, and I shut down the Xbox One by saying Xbox Turn Off. The system stayed off. So I plugged it in to charge and of course the system turned back on. So to test a theory, I removed the play and charge battery and just used the
Xbox on a wired USB connection. I unplugged and replugged it to be sure. Then shut the Xbox off and it DID NOT reboot. I shut all the system various ways and it would not reboot.

I inserted a second play and charge battery and attempted a shut down again. The reboot issue occurs. For some reason with the play and charge kit attached to the system via USB cable. The Xbox One reboots once after shut down. That IS what is causing the
issue. I have tried two kits and two cables on various ports and the problem still happens. Does not happen unless the USB charge cable is attached to the Xbox One.

Now if I can find a fix I will be happy.

Xbox One Powers Off and Then Powers On again?

That is strange one, I've never heard of that before. I keep my USB charger cable in the side of my X1 all the time. Maybe it doesn't do this for me because I'm using a dual charger so it's always charging one battery then I just put my controller on my
charger once I've finished gaming for the night so basically my console is always on in a lower powered state even if the console is on "energy saving mode" itself.

Oh I could work around it. I could charge the controller off my PC.. or I could buy a charge station, and work around it... but that of course doesn't fix the actual issue.

Does anyone else have a play and charge kit that might be able to verify? Like if you plug in your controller with the play and charge kit installed while the system is off... does the xbox turn on automatically?

OKay.. I figured the problem out. It's a timing thing. If I plug the Play and Charge kit in to charge and then shut down the system fairly quickly. The system will reboot. However, if I plug in the charge kit and wait about 20 seconds before shutting down..
It will not reboot. It seems the Xbox takes a little bit to start the charging process which wakes the system up. So if I wait until it completely initializes charging. The system will go ahead and stay off. So in the end it wakes up like I just plugged the
charge cable in while it was off. So I just wait a few seconds and it won't turn back on. Kind of sucky, but I guess I will have to time it and see how long to wait after plugging in the charge cable before shutting down.

Hey Lausaly I did figure it out. Just plug in your play and charge kit BEFORE shut down.. and wait 30 seconds. Your Xbox One will shut down and stay down, but you do have to wait 30 seconds before shut down. I hope this is a software problem that can easily
be addressed and not an electrical problem in the kit.
