    Xbox One powers off after 2 minutes of gameplay


    New issue, my Xbox One has been working great the past two weeks but the past two days it has been shutting itself off whenever i go to play a game. If I keep it at the home screen it will stay on but when i select a game it will shut itself off within 2
    minutes. The power brick is plugged straight into an outlet not a surge protector. It has a solid white light when on and a solid orange light when it shuts itself off. I've tried multiple outlets and rooms. Its also on its own table and very well ventilated
    so overheating is not the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Xbox one power issue

    My Xbox one console powers on then powers off repeatedly, sometimes it's immediately and sometimes it will power off 5 or so minutes after being turned on, the power supply is still on good shape, it's an Xbox 1 original console, would this problem be hardware
    related or is it just getting old and need to be replaced by a newer model.

    overheat

    my xbox overheats after 10-15 minutes of gameplay. It shuts off when it overheats and 2 lights flash and sometimes even 3. i tried getting the dust out of it but i still don't know what else to do

    Power cycling is useless. Complete factory reset is useless. Xbox support chat is useless. Already tried each one. It is a software issue, where Xbox has changed the menu on the Xbox series x so that the "record what happened" feature, usedbto record previous gameplay, can only record 1 minute of previous gameplay. My original Xbox One from a decade ago can record previous gameplay of the same quality for up to 2 minutes.

    Try a power re-cycle of your network

    Power off your modem, your router (if you have one), your PCs, laptops, xboxes. Power off everything on your network.

    Note: some modems have a battery back up and can't be powered off. Use the "Reset" button on the modem in this case

    Let the whole system set unpowered for 30 minutes or more.

    Then power them back on in this order.

    1. Power on the modem (Wait a few minutes for the lights on the modem to settle down)

    2. power on the router (Wait a few minutes here too)

    3. Power on your PC (Check to see that you have internet connectivity)

    4. Power on your xbox (Hopefully all works well at this point)

    5. After your xbox is working properly and with your xbox still powered on, turn on the other devices on your network.

    Is your console in instant on or power saver mode. Switch it to the one it's not set to and hold the power button on the front of the console until it shuts off. After it shuts off unplug the power brick from the console and the outlet for a minute press
    the power button the console 3 times after a minute plug everything back in and power back on and see if the issue is resolved.

    Got it. Let's start with the basics.

    Turn off both controllers and remove the batteries, leave for a few minutes.

    On your console, PRESS and HOLD your console's power button until it turns off, remove the power cord and leave it for a few minutes.

    After about 2 minutes, plug the power cord into your console and turn on the console with one of the controllers, then turn on the other and see if this behavior repeats.

    These commands will clear your system cache.

    Let me know if the problem persists.
