Xbox One Powers itself on - Screen Dimmed

My Xbox One has been powering itself on since Monday 25th August. I wanted to start a new post, as there are lots of similar issues but no-one ever posts a resolution, hopefully this post will help others.

This fault did not start with any new update (to my knowledge).

It powers on after several hours of no contact (over night/ whilst I'm at work). During this time, no one is in the house, and voices from outside are not registered by Kinect. Typically away from the Xbox for 6 hours.

When it has switched itself on, the screen is dimmed, and no controller interaction restores screen brightness (which seems to be the common theme of this issue). Apart from this the console functions normally. Power cycling the console
restores screen brightness.

Settings:

• Kinect is plugged in
• Power mode is instant on
• Set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity
• TV IR is configured

Tonight, I will try a hard reset (holding down the power button for 10 seconds), and report back tomorrow.

My Opinions, Thoughts and Concerns.

My Xbox One dimmed the screen last night, and then turned itself off after an hour of being dimmed. I had it sitting on the Ryse pause menu, and was out of the room. I don't think the screen dims while you're in sight of the Kinect, because I noticed if
I left the room for 15-20 minutes and walked back in, the screen would brighten back up.

 

My XBOX ONE keeps turning on by itself...Help?

I'm bumping this up because my Xbox One just started doing this yesterday. We turn it off, it turns itself back on within an hour. The screen is dimmed and won't light up even when we use a controller. Auto-sign-in is off as is the ability to turn on the
Xbox using Kinect.

 

Same here and I've tried a number of different things. Weird.

 

Since the hard reset it hasn't occurred again, I'll keep the thread open for a few more days to confirm.

 

Issue hasn't occurred again since performing a hard reset.

For anyone with a similar issue, try the following:

1. Whilst the Xbox is powered on, hold the power button for 10 seconds.

2. Power on your Xbox and allow it to go through the boot process.

 

My system was not auto starting, but when started it went to screen save/dimmed mode and would not change state until restarted.

The hard reset worked, and my console now starts as expected. Thanks
