Xbox One Powers down on it's own

Been having some issues with my xbox one. It's usually in instant-on mode, but randomly it will shut down completely and the light on the power brick will go from white to orange. After that whenever I try and turn it on the light goes white, then a few
seconds later back to orange. Has anyone else been having this issue? I've tried everything on the support page including unplugging it overnight. The only fix seems to be using a power brick from another console, which works fine, but I'd rather not have
to buy a second hand power brick from a third party as none of them are actually official, brand new, microsoft ones.

    :)

XBOX One powers down on its own

    Hi all,

Got a new XBOX One on day one. Worked well for 2 days. Now it won't stay on. Powers up, but interestingly not by voice as of today. When i manually turn it on, it powers up, and then shuts my AV receiver off, then turns it back on again. Get the green
XBOX screen, and eventually get to the homepage where i can move around normally for about 2-5 minutes, then the XBOX one powers off all on its own.

Looked at the power supply - amber when off, and white when on. When it auto-powers off, it goes back to amber. Called MY XBOX, and they say its the power supply, and I've read some of the power supply forums issue posts, but they usually note amber light
when not plugged in, no light on the power supply when plugged in, and that the unit will not power on. I am not having this issue.

I'm wondering if this is a similar issue, or a completely different animal. Anyone else noting these issues?

Anyone else encountered an issue with IE which freezes and powers down your Xbox One? It's happened twice to me.

Hey Strongy! Quick question, are you plugged into a power strip/surge protector, or directly into the wall? I have occasionally seen this type of issue when a Power Strip is involved, and I can say that it is not recommended to use a power strip. The reason
for this is because the Power Brick already has a built-in surge protector, and by plugging it into another strip, you are placing 2 layers of surge protection between the wall and the system - this actually chokes the power flow, which makes your system work
harder to pull the necessary energy to run its various processes. This is especially important during startup, when the system actually pulls a higher amount of power to initialize the various components. When it can't get the needed power during startup,
it can (and does) cause startup failure, or even the complete failure of individual components of the console.

In addition to problems with the console itself, it can cause issues with the power brick. I have already seen a number of people since launch that mistakenly used a power strip, and it caused issues which, in some cases resolved when the power strip was
removed. (In other cases, it was too late, and a repair was necessary.)

This was actually a leading cause of the RRoD on the Xbox 360 as well - plugging into a strip caused it to work too hard to pull startup-power, causing failure. (Right after launch, the system was not listed as needing a dedicated wall outlet. I used a surge
protector myself on my early 360 console. After the RR started happening, they changed the setup and help documentation, and also the pack-in documentation with replacement consoles, to reflect that a surge protector should not be used.)

Just one possibility, it may not apply to you, but wanted to mention it!

AC3 downloaded from gold but requires disc?

    Hey there,

That's odd! If you own the game on your account, start by power cycling your Xbox One console by holding the power button down until the unit fully powers down. If the issue continues, try

    uninstalling and reinstalling
    the game.

    Keep us posted!

    The Crew 2

Owning a game disk has nothing to do with a power cycle. Try fully shutting down the console and unplugging from the power (original Xbox one, from wall socket and back of Xbox) for 60 seconds. Plug back in and power up. If it still happens and only with
that game, reach out to the developer.

    External Storage keeps disconnecting

Does the drive enclosure pull power from the USB Bus or does it have its own power source? Do you have a friend or a relative that has an XBOX One that you could test the drive on in an attempt to narrow down the issue?

    Resident Evil 4 update failure

    Hey there!

Thanks for the heads up! Let's start with these steps:

    • Uninstall the game (or cancel the installation)
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console until the console full powers down
    • After your Xbox One full powers down, power back up.
    • Navigate to 'My games & apps' and install Resident Evil 4 from your 'Ready to install' list (or from your disc if you do not own the game digitally)
Let us know how it goes!
