  1. Xbox One Powers Down Completely During Gameplay

Hi there, hoping someone can help!

Love my Xbox One and for the most part it works like a dream but I've had something happen intermittently which is concerning me. Apologies if this is long-winded, want to add as much detail as I can because not sure what will be relevant!

-Occasionally (it's only happened 3 times - once playing DR3 and once playing Watchdogs) while playing a game the console will very suddenly (instantly) and without any warning just shut down completely. It's not a gentle shutdown, it's like someone has
    just yanked the power out.

-When it happens the light on the controller will flash continuously. It's then not possible to switch the console back on using the controller - it needs to be powered on at the console.

-Curiously, my AV Amp and TV remain turned on (when I shut the console down manually I have it set to switch those off too). Suggests the power off is happening so suddenly that the IR blaster doesn't do it's thing.

-When it happened last night I had a look at the power brick and the light was green/yellow (I'm slightly colourblind I'm afraid!). Checked the colour later on when the console was off and it was white, these colours are normal right?

-When I switch the console back on after this occurs, it's a full reboot the console goes through. The first time it happened, after this reboot the graphics on the dashboard were incredibly pixellated. I rebooted and they were fine, and that pixellation
issue hasn't happened the other two times the power has gone so hoping this was a one-off. It scared the hell out of me though!

Have had a look at the support page, and following the instructions I've set it not to turn off after inactivity (this was set to an hour, but as I'm playing games at the time and it's such a violent shutdown I doubt this is the cause) and have plugged into
a different wall socket. I also moved the console to another shelf away from all my other equipment after the 2nd time in case the console was overheating, but it still happened a third time in it's new cooler area.

What do you reckon? Could this be a faulty powerbrick or do you know of something more serious console-side that could be causing it? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help!

    :)

    Help..

    Thanks for clarifying!

Let's have you and everyone you're playing with perform a full Xbox One power cycle. Hold down the power button on the Xbox One for 8-10 seconds until it powers down completely and then turn it back on. Let us know how it goes.

Had a chat with support and they've suggested going through the steps to clear the persistent storage as there's a possibility a corrupt file could cause it. Will try that and update this post if anything else develops (plan B is replacing the power brick).

Broken system/ broken support/ broken customer

Xbox shuts down during gameplay, freezes during both disk and digital copies, and black screen during gameplay. I went through all the steps prior to servicing the machine, purchase new bricks and power supplies, and factory reset the system. I'm not connected
to a surge protector and the system is properly ventilated in an open space.

    Hello Leedan10!

The most likely solution to this issue is power cycling the console. Hold the power button for about 10 seconds and the console will power down completely, then turn it back on and try to launch the game again. If this doesn't work try following the steps
in My Xbox One game won't start or freezes during gameplay. Let us know whether any of these solutions worked for you.

    Hope this solves the issue!
