Xbox One powered, won't start, cannot factory reset

    TL;DR:

Xbox One froze while playing a game, now won't start, or output a video signal, but is powering up and down with the front button and EJECT button. Can't even get it to enter factory reset with USB. Controller cannot connect when console power button illuminated.

    Detailed issue:

Playing a game for several hours, then encountered a glitch where music and sound effects stopped playing, but sounds tied to UI actions were audible. Certain textures loaded at extremely low resolution, but the majority of the game (character, UI, environment)
appeared fine. Attempted to fast-travel, thinking it would reload, but instead the console froze.

Unable to exit game or bring up the console menu, so did a hard shutdown. Tried to power it back up; get the power-up chime and a steadily lit button, but no video output.

Connected directly to TV; changed cord, changed ports.

The controller will turn the system on, but then cannot link (controller blinks, then turns itself off).

Xbox app on my phone detects the console, but shows it as sleeping even with the power button illuminated.

Tried hard shutdown (10-second hold on power button), unplugging the power supply from the wall, waking up by inserting a disc, tapping the EJECT button, and starting in low-resolution mode per the page on no video output (unplug for 30 seconds, hold BIND+EJECT,
press power, keep holding BIND+EJECT for 10-15 seconds). Eventually tried the full factory reset with USB. In all cases only the start-up chime sounds when the power button is first pressed.

Console was set to conserve power.

Power brick shows steady orange when the console is off or unplugged, steady white when the console is powered. Plugged into a surge protector, other electronics on same protector showing no issues.

Powering the console down with the power button produces a delay of 10 to 60 seconds between pres/chime and turning off.

Both power brick and console are adequately ventilated, on hard surfaces with room for airflow all around.

    :)

It seems you been through pretty much all of these troubleshooting steps.

Unfortunately i cant think of much else besides running through these troubleshooting tips once more for good measure.

If the problem persists after running the troubleshooting steps, i would double check there is no dust or anything blocking the connection from your HDMI to your xbox. (I use a little air duster every now and again to clean out all the ports on the back).
Worst case scenario, some of the internal hardware could have gotten to hot after running for a while and caused a failure within the unit.

I hope you get back to gaming soon!

If this Support to reset power supply doesn't assist you may need to contact

    Device support.
Thank you for the thought, but I already went through that; it's why I reported the power brick's LED behaviour.

And, unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't provide repairs for the Xbox One anymore since it's discontinued (unless you somehow have one still in warranty). They don't mention this in the support pages directing one to Device Support, nor on Device Support until
after you have filled out the complete registration, problem description and shipping info.

Sorry to hear you're having some issues.

If I may ask, did the video output complications start before or after unplugging and switching cords (I'm assuming its connected through HDMI)?

    ...

Everything is working properly when it comes to receiving power to your system you just don't have any video signal?

    ...

Do you have signal to any other device using the same cord and TV? so you can ensure the cord and port on the TV aren't faulty?
    Thank you for responding.

The console freeze and failure to start up came first. Swapping cords and using different ports on the TV was done to rule them out; only the Xbox's out port was used. The TV displays input from other devices using the same cord/TV port.

Power delivery does not seem to be an issue per the support page diagnostics.

Sorry to hear you're having some issues.

If I may ask, did the video output complications start before or after unplugging and switching cords (I'm assuming its connected through HDMI)? Reason I ask is, there are two HDMI ports on the back of your console, one being input and the other being output
to the TV, I've made the mistake of switching these two up before myself.

It seems you have power cycled the unit by unplugging for 5 minutes and repowering. Everything is working properly when it comes to receiving power to your system you just don't have any video signal?

As for the controller issue, that could be due to resetting your system and it may just need to be re-paired if we can get the system to power back up and register signal to your TV.

Do you have signal to any other device using the same cord and TV? so you can ensure the cord and port on the TV aren't faulty?

Just a few basic things I thought of, hope I can be of some help!
