XBox One Power supply fan extremely loud.

I've had my XB1 since February, typically keep it in 'Instant On' mode.

Over the past few weeks, the fan inside the power supply has become extremely loud. I tried blowing dust out of the unit, and it only helped a little. The PSU is in a well ventilated spot, so I think the fan is failing.

Is this something that Microsoft will replace? I'm a little disappointed that the fan would fail after 7 months.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? I'll be creating a ticket with hardware support, just thought I'd check here for similar stories.

I think it may be breaking down. you may have to get a new one. however try to contact support at support.xbox.com

its breathing super loud and I think it's broken it has sent moved or anything I just came home from spending the night at a freinds house and I could hear it from the kitchen

I have the same issue. Just started in the last 3 weeks--we've had our unit since last Christmas. This seems to be a common problem, but I didn't have problems until I hooked the cable box to the console and set it Instant On. Options include sending your
PSU to Microsoft, paying $35 and waiting for possibly quite a while to get a new unit or paying $50 to have a new one shipped. Or you can buy one from Amazon and pay a bit more. I saw a couple of complaints that replacements are not new but refurbished. There
have also been comments that non-Microsoft PSUs are garbage, if you are thinking of going that route. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about mine. Good luck.

Thanks for helping out a bit. sorry to hear you're having a similar issue. Be sure your power supply is an open and well-ventilated area, also if you have it plugged into a power strip try unplugging from that and plugging it directly into a wall-outlet.

If you're getting performance issues with the power supply a repair/replacement is definitely going to be your best option but if you'd like some help troubleshooting go ahead and create a new thread and let us know

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately cleaning the power supply didn't help. The fan still continues to make a loud sound. I went ahead and ordered another power supply since I really didn't have a choice. Hopefully the next one is more durable.

Black Wolf XCI.. If your Power Brick is too hot to touch & you can smell an electrical smell... Unplug it from the wall + XBOX & call XBOX Phone Support for a replacement.. Seeing how it's about 2 years old.. You might have to pay $35 + P&H for a new one..
A faulty or near faulty Power Supply, can cause low voltage to the HDD & console Circuitry... [SATA HDD powered straight from power supply circuit]

The fan on the 360 Slim power supply, can cease with dust & heat up.. You will also hear a loud noise sometimes too...

This issue can also be mistaken for the consoles optical drive or fan being loud...
