  1. Xbox One Power Supply Brick Buzzing and Grinding

    Recently my Xbox One power supply brick was making a loud buzzing sound and when I picked it up and moved it, the brick grinded. I think it's the fan in the brick. Is there any way I could get it replaced for free?

    :)

  2. buzzing noise...

    Have you checked the power brick for buzzing? My Xbox 360 250GB Slim has a slight buzzing from the power supply occasionally.

    sound coming from power brick

    Sounds like your power supply died. You can order another one on
    myservice.xbox.com
    .

    The grinding noise is the fan inside the power brick.

    Hey there Xborn2besnip3rX! Unfortunately that accessory only has a 90 day warranty out of the box. You will more than likely need to pay for a replacement if in fact you are past that 90 day period.

    I am unsure of how much new power supplies cost, but you can place a repair order here
    http://myservice.xbox.com From there you will need to register your Xbox One Console, then you will be able to get the replacement order started for your power supply.

    Thank you for that information Trunder. I was under the assumption that the warranty on the Xbox One Power Supply was following the same warranty on the Xbox 360 power supply (which was 90 days weather it came with the console or not).

    Afaik it's 90 days in the US for accessories. But over here in Europe it's different as there is no difference between the console itself and it's accessories.

    No problem happy to help..

    @BobMcFly247

    The support article I found does not contain any information that it's not relevant for US customers so it seems likley that the warranty for the Xbox one psu is more than 90 days even in the US..

    When I look at a similar support article for the Xbox 360 it does not mention anything about the warranty period for console and Power brick being the same... Hopefully that means that the US warranty has improved from the 360 to the XB One..

    I'm from Norway where we have strong/good consumer rights, but all the same as a PSU is integral to the operation of a console like the Xbox One I would only find i natural that the same warranty conditions would apply for Console and Power brick/PSU Xbox One Power Supply Brick Buzzing and Grinding :)

    @BobMcFly247, on the US article that was linked by Tronder 007 it says the Xbox One power supply has the same warranty as the Xbox One console. This means however long your Xbox One warranty is, that is how long the power supply warranty is.

    Ah ok. Fully ack.

    I remember that somewhere in the support database once I saw a table indicating the different warranty times in the different countries. But not sure if it was 360 only or general.

    Nevertheless I think the same about an essential part of the console like the psu.

    @Tronder:

    Are you from around Trondheim? I have a buddy around there also playing Xbox.

    Yes I'm From Trondheim and currently reside in one of the neighbouring counties..

    (Plenty of Xbox one Players around here and a lot of us imported the XB one before before the local launch Xbox One Power Supply Brick Buzzing and Grinding :)

    So Even if I'm used to strong consumer protection/rights I would have thought it strange that such an integral part of the console would have anything but the same warrant as the console itself..

    A Contoller ok, I could see that a console manufacturer might not want to prowide a 1 or 2 year warranty on that, as that has the potential to attract a lot of abuse.. can hardly see anyone throwing their PSU across the room if the lose a race in say Forza5
