Xbox One Power Off With Controller

I wanted to ask a quick question regarding powering off the Xbox One with the controller.

I usually turn off the console using the controller and wait til the power bricks light is orange. I've unplugged the console a few times during thunderstorms to make sure it doesn't get fried.

My question is will turning off the console with the controller fully shut it down and is safe to unplug.

    :)

since last update elite controller isnt working propoley

    Hey there x Freeman IV.

Sorry you're having trouble with your Xbox One Elite Controller.

If you power cycle your Xbox One by holding down the power button for 8-10 seconds until it completely powers off, are you able to power it back on with your controller?

  3. Plugging in headset makes controller turn off...

My controller instantly shuts off when headset (one that came with Xbox one) is plugged in. I've power cycled Xbox, updated controller I can't even update it with the headset plugged in because it shuts off.. Bought another headset it does the same thing..
Do I need a new controller already!? So frustrating. Help?

  5. It shuts down with the controller the same as if you pressed the button on the console. It'll go to power saving or instant on depending what you have in your settings.

I've turned mine off with the controller every time since I bought it day 1 and I haven't had any issues.

You will be fine, unlike the PS4 you do not have to wait to unplug it from the mains.

Sounds like you have the console set up to Power Saving mode. You'll be fine.

I'd suggest a battery backup to protect your electronics against thunderstorms and electricity overloads.

^^ A battery backup might be overkill.... all you really need is a surge protector.

  12. As long as the power brick turns orange, then it's safe to unplug it from the wall. That's the main concern, since that is the indicator that the console is in energy saver mode. Whether it gets there by using the power button or the controller makes no
    difference.

Just wanted to add this. It has been recommended to plug the Xbox directly into the wall outlet. The power brick actually has its own surge suppressor built in and some people claim that using your own surge suppressor can cause more problems than it would
    solve.

Yes I thought official advice was not to use any external surge protection as its already in the power brick, my One was DOA when I went to use it Saturday, no white or orange light on the power brick, my heart properly sank at the thought of a Witcherless
weekend. But I pulled the power brick from the wall waited a few minutes and plugged it back in and it had reset itself and I was good to go!

Mind you you I did wonder after how many Ones have been returned when all they needed was a power brick reset, they should make this feature more well known.

  14. I agree they definitely should make it more well known. Especially if there is truth to the fact that it can do more harm than good, to use a surge suppressor.

Had a quick shifty on the support pages and just says no devices between the PSU and the console itself.
