Xbox one power brick smelling

Just recently I've noticed my power brick is giving off a very very slight burnt plastic smell,but only when playing games,not when on the dashboard or watching DVDs.Spoke to xbox support and got absolutely nowhere,it doesn't get hot or make a noise .Ive
cleaned any dust out of it and it's well ventilated,plus it's 18months old. Cheers for any help .

Power Brick issues

I'm currently on my 4th xbox one console...

First one wouldn't update, got it exchanged through the place I bought it.

Second one worked at first. After a week of playing I was in the middle of a game when I hear 2 loud pops, everything shuts down and I smell burnt electrical. Ordered a new power brick to hopefully fix the issue. It didn't help, sent that console in for
repair to microsoft. While waiting I went ahead and bought a new console from Gamestop. The new one worked great until today, I started smelling overheating electrical again, reached to touch the brick and see if it was too hot. There was a crackling noise
and everything shut down again. Upon inspection of the power brick I notice the input cord into the power brick was loose which may have contributed to a power short causing the brick to fail. Hopefully the damage is contained solely in the power brick.

There seems to be an issue with both the power supply overheating and the cord needs to be reworked so it doesn't come out so easily

X1 would'nt turn on

I just had a weird incident.
My Xbox One powered off and my TV switched off and back on straight to HDMI 1(Xbox One is in HDMI 3).
There was no light on the power brick, so I tried unplugging it for a moment and plugged it back in, but still nothing.
Unplugged it again and took a closer look at the power brick, sniffing it to see if I could smell anything like a burning smell. Nothing, although it was rather dusty, so I blew all the dust out of the small gaps.
Plugged it back in and the amber light came on right away, so I powered up the console and it went through the "cold boot" cycle.
No indication what caused the trip.
My surge protected plug board seems fine. No fault lights.
I don't think my cat was near the board, and not sure what he could have done to trip the power anyway.

Anyone else had anything like this happen?

What you will have to do is that sand in the power brick to repair it. It will cost you $35 because it does not have a warranty on it.

Go to the following link:

and click on the option that says "Replace an accessory"

I think it's the power brick I unplugged it. While it was not in use and it worked fine till night time. Then it froze but this time I went to go turn off the power on the Xbox and all I could smell was smoke coming out of the power brick and I'm 100% sure
it wasn't the Xbox because I even stuck my face near the Xbox's fan area and no smokey smell. Then I put my face close to the power brick and it smelled like smoke like it was going to catch on fire. So this is just weird you could never smell smoke before
and I didn't think the power brick could freeze the Xbox. I have never even dropped the power brick I just leave it plugged in 24/7 which that's probably why. Would unplugging it every time help or would I be better off just getting a new power brick? If so
where can I get another one for the Xbox 360 S.

Hello again, despite the smell of burned, your console turns on, does its power brick turn on any light?

A green light indicates a fuse in the power board. I would personally recommend buying a new power brick if possible.

I will get a new power brick.

By power board U mean the Xbox motherboard ? If so than that means the console must be serviced as well .

Just so u know on the power brick it says green light = power good

Do U mean getting a green light when the power brick isn't connected to the console.

And also what of the fan working only and the burning smell

please clarify in detail.

Hi,
I recommend that you let your power source rest, or check if it smells like burned plastic if that is the case, your brick may have suffered a shock and is broken
