Xbox one power brick not showing any lights after lightning storm

We experienced a heavy lightning storm in my area last night, and a couple lightning strikes occurred nearby. all the electronics in the house seem to have survived except for the Xbox and DSTV decoder. I'm unsure whether the Xbox itself is fried or the
power brick is the issue, because the power brick won't show any orange or white light when plugged in. I've followed the reset process of disconnecting the power cables from the wall socket and Xbox and the reconnecting them after a few minutes but still
there is no change.

Do I get the power brick replaced only or send in the entire Xbox in case the power brick wasn't able to protect it from a power surge?

Is my box fried or what?

So the other night we had a short but knarly thunder/lightning storm and after the power went out a few things in the house have quit working. Sad to say my Xbox One was one of them. I've tried troubleshooting, reseting the power supply, by removing the
power cords from the wall, power brick and the box, waited at least two minutes but to no avail, she wont turn one. At least not fully, it'll light up and pretend to turn one but then just turns back off. The light on the power brick switches between white
and orange right after the reset and stays white while shes booting but goes right back to orange when she wants to sleep still. So my question is, is it the power brick/supply or is my box just F'ed? Daddy needs his Titan Fall time!

Xbox One is power off suddenly During gaming

Hi, I have a problem with my xbox one, I have god ventilation. but after some time of gaming Xbox Turn off by itself. Also the light of the power brick turn off too(no
orange light .

This action avoid the option to turn on the xbox. I have to disconnect power brick from wall outlet in order to brick power led tun orange and then start xbox one.

any idea?

Sorry to hear that.

The first thing i would do is plug something else into that socket/outlet to make sure it works.

If it does then i would get a replacement power supply unit. If there are no lights on that then I would say that is what has failed. They have built in surge protectors so my guess is you r console is fine.

Hi keith,

Depending if you have a Gamestop or other game retailer nearby you could always take your console to them and see if they can use one of their known working power supply's to test if your console is operational.

Just to confirm, when the console is off your power brick has an orange light and when on it displays a green light, also the console does not show any red lights on it, it simply switches off reverting the power brick to the orange light?

Generally you still turn off a console.or.any major electronics during a bad thunderstorm

Surge.protectors.can only.handle.so.much

You can.Check.your joules.rating for.that.but even still.I.still.don't trust.it.vs.millions of.joules surviving a lighting strike is pure luck

Surge protectors are meant for ppwersurge from.your powerlines. Not serious lightning

mother nature can output more then your typical power plant even gives nuclear reactors a run for.their money

One of the most powerful source of power ia a lighting storm

But no-one can harness it

Upto you but I wouldn't trust a 10-20 dollar surge protector in a lightning storm

I use a ups which protects against bigger surges and Give you time incaze of a brownout

Try the link that was posted on this thread (Xbox One Power Supply Solution). it will show whether the power brick or the console itself
needs to be replaced or repaired.

In short, it will troubleshoot and lead through the process of showing the following:

If the power supply unit light is on after trying to turn the console on, it means it is the console.

If the light turns off, then the power supply needs to be replaced.
