xbox one power brick almsot caught fire

power brick is about as big, if not a smidge bigger than the 360 slim powerbrick. I'm not sure why people get so caught up in the size of the xbox and/or the power brick. It just gets stuck behind the xbox out of view.

If an external power bricks helps my console to stay cool and last for 10 years.....I'm all for it.

Just unplugged the brick from the xbox and the outlet, waited around 5 minutes for the brick to lose power, fired it back up. Watched 20-25 minutes so far, and no dimming.

You can buy a replacement power supply from places such as Gamestop, however, your Xbox may be fried if it got hot enough to melt the power supply.

Make sure you buy compatible power supply though. If you have a newer FAT 360, get the smaller power brick, but if it's over a year old, get the larger brick. The larger brick will work with any console, but the small brick will only work with Jasper motherboards
(the newest "fat" 360s).

If you have a slim, I'm guessing they have their own specific power supply.

If your cable melted you need to contact Xbox support by phone. It is not suggested to use the console until after they have had you send it in so they can take a look at it. If you are in the U.S the number for Xbox support is 1-800-469-9269

You can't just buy a new power brick and use that in your console, that will destroy it - literally smoke and maybe fire.

You will need to either use a transformer for your current power brick and console or buy a console from the region you're staying in and use that console and that power brick.
