XBOX One - Post Feb Update - TV power commands different and not working for me.

My TV is a SAMSUNG - LE46C750

Prior to the Feb update, my XBOX ONE turned my TV on and off when I said 'XBOX ON' and 'XBOX TURN OFF' perfectly. The remote code was a toggle because if the TV was already on, then it would switch off, which I would expect.

Since the update the behaviour has changed for the worse (but potentially for the better).

The XBOX no longer sends the ON command to the TV when I say 'XBOX ON'. This is a PITA as I have to grab the remote and turn the TV on manually. However it does switch the TV OFF when I say 'XBOX TURN OFF'.

Here's where it gets interesting though...

Scenario A. XBOX ONE is ON. TV is ON. I say 'XBOX TURN OFF'. XBOX ONE and TV turn OFF.

Scenario B. XBOX ONE is ON. TV is OFF. I say 'XBOX TURN OFF'. XBOX ONE turns OFF. TV stays OFF!

Previously, due to the toggle, scenario B would have switched the TV back ON. I'm no expert but in my mind this could happen for two reasons...

Reason A. The XBOX is still sending a toggle but is not sending it in scenario B. Therefore it must know from the HDMI cable that the TV is already OFF. This is new since the update.

Reason B. The XBOX is no longer sending a toggle but an actual ON or OFF remote command. In my case the remote ON command must be incorrect as my TV won't turn on in any circumstance.

I have checked all my settings and tried switching back to ECO power mode then back to FAST ON mode, but it didn't change anything.

Can anyone help me fix this problem so that XBOX switches my TV ON again?

Xbox One won't control my HW150PVR tuner

Studbucket33, the power command does NOT work for me. There doesn't seem to be any ability to control the Homeworx from the XBox One at all except for the black screen flash event.

Interstella69, I'm not so sure that what is happening to you is happening to me. I'm using a Kinect mounted above my TV to control my setup, which includes the TV, Receiver, and Homeworx. The only thing that is not working is the Homeworx. The black screen
flash event didn't start occurring until I tried the new update.

Xbox one turns TV and Receiver off if they're already on.

I have a logitech harmony for xbox remote that I use with my Home theater setup with multiple devices.

If I know I am going to use only the Xbox One, I want the Xbox One to be able to turn on everything.

Sometimes I will be using a different device with my TV and Receiver but then I want to switch to my Xbox One, but when I turn on my Xbox One, it tries to turn on my TV and Receiver, but they're already on and the Xbox One sends the power toggle command
which turns them both off. So I started with my TV and receiver on and my XB1 off and now my XB1 is on, but my TV and Receiver are off.

I know for a fact that my TV (Samsung LN40A650) and Receiver (Onkyo TX-SR607) have separate Power On and Power Off commands (that will leave them on if they are already on and vice versa) because I can issue them from my universal remote.

Why can't the Xbox One use power On/Off commands instead of the dumb Power Toggle commands if they exist for the device in question?

Thanks for posting about this, really interesting stuff.

I do love my Xbone but it very much is an "in the works" device.

Have had my STB and TV working from the start, just wish they would give us a simple "Go to channel 1" to get our uk tv working a little. If i select US locale i can pause and play live tv ( and any shows i watch from my STB recorder once they are started
).

This though is very interesting, they are refining the on / off situation. Will see if this is also the case with my STB going on and off too. Will report back.

This happened to me after the update, I went into settings then tv & oneguide and I think devices. There were tick boxes for whether you want it to turn your tv on and off, if they are off then turn them on. If they are on turn them off save changes then
go back and turn them on again. If all else fails reset your tv settings from the same place and run the setup again.

I had this toggling problem. I had my sound bar blocking the TV's lil inferred light which caused my toggling to fail. I slid it forward maybe half an inch and it worked like a charm

Update 9/19/16. I fixed it. In case this is happening with anyone else, there's a few steps to take, but it works.

For some reason the Kinect's power seems to be tied with my TV. My TV was not recognized so I got a command to plug in IR cables because there was no Kinect. the next step allowed me to send "mute" commands to my TV. After 4 or 5 different tries, it still
didn't mute, so I was allowed to input my model # manually. Once that was accepted the lights on the Kinect kit up and commands to the TV all work fine

It is really weird because when I say "xbox on" the cable box and xbox and kinect power up but the TV and soundbar don't. I switched the setting in the power menu so that TV toggles just to see if that had anything to do with it. I decided to power it
off by pressing the power button on my xbox which then toggles the tv and soundbar off. So at this point it seems to be sporadically working only when I press the xbox power button, my voice commands can work with the xbox but the power on/off isn't translating
to the tv and soundbar.

It really doesn't make any sense to me why this is happening, the only thing different in this whole equation is the HDMI and potentially the input source because I can't figure out which input I used to have it on
