Xbox One - Possible Overheating? (Please Help)

Hi,

My consoles fan behind the top vent is running at maximum speed constantly, even when its turned off but power supply still plugged in..

It boots to dash screen and seems to be running fine but as you can imagine is VERY loud, I'm not sure why this has started happening, its always well ventilated but the fan is all the sudden going berserk.

I am afraid that the constant full speed fan is going to cause damage and concerned as to whether the fan has just malfunctioned or if the heat-sink has lost thermal paste or something making the console immediately think its over heating?

If anyone could please help me on this I would be greatly appreciative.

P.S - I have a fair bit of computer component knowledge if it helps.

HELP PLEASE!

I almost wonder if IGN has workers randomly make profiles that do what they can to make Xbox look lame.

Why on earth would any regular person come here make a profile and ask this question.....A Pro-Sony company like IGN on their payroll, slowly makes "Help Me, Xbox Errors, etc." trying to veer people away.Click to expand...

Its possible he googled and this was the first xbox forum that came up.

But yeah considering the rubbish half of them talk its very possible its an IGN staff member too.

Indeed, if your console is well ventilated, you shouldn't hear the fan or not that much so it may be a hardware problem. You should reach the official Xbox Support here to get a replacement unit :
support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.

I never blamed Microsoft for anything in my post, so I'm not sure where that theory came from.

In any case, I suppose the best result would be to buy a new one to replace the old one. Thanks for all your help guys!

Meta, I've had out of warranty consoles repaired before by Microsoft. I've received them back in as quick as 11 business days. Whether you choose a new one or get yours refurbed is up to you! I'm sorry you had that happen to you though.

You could try buying a replacement power brick since that's the part that's over-heating.
