Xbox one plays no audio

    Xbox one plays no audio


    Xbox one stopped playing audio this morning, have swapped HDMI cables, power cycled several times, soft reset the whole xbox, tried calling microsoft new zealand only to be hung up on after being directed to online support that told me there was a "problem at our end" when i gave it my phone number.

    is there ANY way to speak to somebody at microsoft before I just throw my xbox off my balcony?

    You're lucky that the audio can play through the Xbox One's headset. The Xbox One and 360 use different audio codecs though and this is the reason you cannot use the Xbox One to chat with players on the 360. There is no fix for this.

    I imagine that with soft reset you mean a factory reset keeping ganes and apps, after this, you choose to keep the prior settings or configure as a new Xbox?

    I'm guessing that the problem it's audio trough the Tv, have you tested on a different Tv?

    If I'm guessing wrong in both situations please let me know more about your situation

    Xbox One X: Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) support

    As the Xbox One X is an audio source, it doesn't need to send or receive audio via ARC or eARC.

    Audio Return Channel is only for TV's that are supposed to "return" Audio back to an AV receiver or connected Soundbar.

    As the Xbox One X doesn't have speakers to play audio recieved through ARC, it won't support "ARC" or "eARC". Your TV needs to support ARC or eARC.

    What exactly is your TV and console setup, that you would need eARC in the Xbox One X?
