Xbox One Play and Charge Kit not charging

Hello,

I just started using my Xbox One Play and Charge kit for the first time...or at least
tried to. Unfortunately, whenever I try to plug it in to charge, it doesn't. The console indicates that the controller is plugged in, but it's not charging. The battery pack runs the controller just fine without the cable plugged in. I haven't yet
run the battery pack almost dry and then tried to charge it when it's low. Do I need to do that in order for it to work? Is the Xbox One not recognizing the cable/controller correctly?

I tried using a different cable as I was typing this, but I can't tell if that cable is working because the console didn't give any indication the controller's battery was charging. The controller did vibrate as I plugged the cable in, though, which tells
me that it did something.

How do most of you charge your controllers?

Quick charge kit, right in front of me as my 360 and my PC shares one monitor. Had 2 play n' charge kits and returned both of them because it's not charging for some reason.

 

Does Xbox One S have rechargeable batteries for there controllers?

Quick update: The other cable I tried to use kept turning the system on, so I can't use it. As for the cable provided with the Play and Charge kit, it appears to me like the console is misrecognizing the controller as a wired controller, even though it says
the controller is wireless regardless of whether or not the cable's plugged in.

Also, I'm using the Forza 6 Limited Edition Xbox One with the matching controller, if that makes a difference.

 

Have you tried updating the controller through settings? If so, the cable may be defective. I'd take it to where it was purchased and see if the same thing happens of it was purchased from a physical store. Have you tried charging with other controllers
if available as well?

 

There are no updates available for the controller. Unfortunately, I don't have any other controllers I can use to test the cable. It's possible I will need to take it back to the GameStop from which I bought it and have it checked.

 

FINAL UPDATE: I took the Play-and-Charge kit back to the store. I decided to get a charging dock and use that instead, just in case this is a firmware issue like I think it is. Therefore, I no longer need assistance here.
