Xbox One Play and Charge and other battery related issues

So when I first got my Xbox One, I purchased a play and charge despite having had many issues with the 360 play and charges. Lo and behold, the next day I had to return it because the led light wouldnt light up and refused to charge my controller. A couple
months later (I havent been playing xbox one much until Diablo 3's rerelase just recently), I am noticing that the battery will sometimes last an hour after being fully charged and other times only last about 5 to 10 minutes. I am not exaggerating. Then I
will have to plug the cable back in and charge it again. I'm gonna try to return it again but I no longer have the packaging or receipt so idk if theyll accept it. I'm more concerned with the fact that I'll probably end up with another malfunctioning one though.
Why is Microsoft unable to make functioning play and charge packs. I mean their hardware in general is usually faulty and prone to this sort of thing but wow. Should I get a charging station instead? Or will those not work well either? At least I can play
with the play and charge, I just basically have to accept having a wired controller instead of a wireless one.

sidenote: since getting an xbox one, I've been very annoyed by the battery indicator. I know you have to press the guide button and then press it again to make the battery of your controller pop up in the right hand corner by the time, but it almost never works
for me, I think its worked maybe 3 of the 200 times I've tried to check my battery life. I've also noticed that occasionally my xbox one controllers guide button wont work until I restart my console. Very annoying.

Xbox One Elite contoller - play & charge kit drains too fast

Hello.

My problem is following: I bought new Xbox One Elite controller. I put my play & charge kit (battery) to it.

The battery should last 30 hrs. With my elite controller, I only get 8hrs of gametime before it dies.

I previusly had another elite controller with the same play and charge kit battery, had no issues at the time.

I also tested my play and charge kit with my Xbox One S- contoller, battery life is good.

So, problem is not the play and charge battery kit, but my current elite controller. I also noticed that it shut it self down in middle of gaming... Could I have a faulty controller? How to fix it?

I got the ORB dual charger got two batteries with it, had it over7 months no problems at all.

 

ok, get this, I bet same problem. my play n charge is fully charged, then after about an hour it says low battery.... so I take pack out of controller and put it back in. then indicator says full again! so it must be the connectors on the recharge pack.
but this problem is unacceptable! this is not convenient during online matches to deal with battery pack especially how difficult the cover is to take off and replace.

I stopped using the charge kit on 360 cause for some reason the packs would never charge. Microsoft, get your act together!

 

I quit using the play and charge, They are so "Cheap" - I picked up a decent charger, and use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries now. Keep a pair in the controller, and a pair on standby. Works better than any play and charge kit.

 

When you say it lasts an hour, are you going by the low battery notification or does it actually run out of charge?

If the former, change your console to energy saving rather than instant on. That fixed it for me.

 

I've had the instant on turned off since like day 2 of having the xbox one just cuz of the subtle noise from the fan. But I mean it'll give me the battery notification and it will disconnect if I don't plug it in for a while.

 

I guess we have a different problem then, my battery notification pops up but my controller doesn't disconnect. It's just the display thats inaccurate for me.. Sorry I couldn't fix your problem. Sounds like maybe a bad battery you have.

 

For the 360 i had a charging dock that was from xbox but with the one their is no xbox brand charging stations. just third parties. i loved my charging station and i hope they will make it for xbox one or the only other option is to get the energizer charging
dock.
