XBox One Picture and Sound Issue - much worse when on Amazon/Netflix

Hi,

I purchased an new xbox one console (500gb) for my son for Christmas and it appears to have an odd fault that I believe is to do with the HDMI output socket and/or cable.

I noticed it when we tried to watch a film on Netflix and also Amazon. What is happening is that the picture goes off frequently to a black screen or a split second and so does the sound. The sound goes off and on constantly while the pictures remains and
obviously both go when the screen turns black. When my son is playing games he says it doesn't do it anywhere near as often although he says it definitely does still happen once or twice over a period of an hour or two. With regards to amazon and Netflix,
they're unwatchable it's that frequent, every few seconds the sound drops or the picture drops.

I've tried a spare HDMI cable (expensive gold connectors etc) that we use on his old xbox 360, and to my surprise, there is absolutely no output on the TV whatsoever 'No output' is displayed. The TV is a 40" Sony LCD.

Few extra bits of info:

Yes the cables are in the correct slots

Yes the Xbox One is fully up to date

Yes we're using the supplied 'in-box' HDMI cable for the console

No, I can't say if this has been like it since day one as I've not been allowed near it until now! :0)

Something I did notice is that the HDMI connection on the console is pretty slack compared to what I've seen on other devices but that may just be the norm for this particular make and model of console..... ;0)

There are loads of articles regarding similar issues to this but I've yet to find something that directs me to exactly what the issue is and how I can resolve it, hence this post.

Any assistance and advice (<--constructive!) would be very much appreciated.

Netflix gets worse

The Netflix app/UI gets worse and worse.

I wish Amazon Prime had everything that Netflix had, they have a much better(although not as pretty) UI and it just makes more sense. On Amazon you can save sound settings so that you dont have to change it every episode, you can click on videos to see similar
videos, you can search for things such as genres so much easier.

 

50 Hz support

As well as solving the 50mhz issue, does anyone know if this patch corrects the degradation of picture issue as well? (On all the plasma TV's where I saw Sky passed through the X1, the picture looked much worse). The picture looks much darker and lifeless
when passed through the X1.
